English: Sgt. 1st Class Brian Lancey from Norwich, Conn., instructs Afghan children to stay a safe distance as soldiers and Airmen assigned to Laghman Provincial Reconstruction Team prepare to fire weapons as part of a training exercise, Nov. 7, near Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Laghman province, Afghanistan. Lancey and others from 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1-182nd Infantry Regiment of the Rhode Island National Guard who are deployed to provide security for PRT Laghman gained valuable trigger time with heavy weapons like the MK-19 grenade launcher and .50 caliber machine gun and trained their Air Force counterparts on their use, as well. |
