Here's the video, taken two frames/min for about eight hours on the night of Aug. 11-12, 2013, in the Ojito Wilderness, about 20 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. Each exposure had a 25 sec duration, with an additional 5 sec added for writing the image to the memory card. There's the usual assortment of airplane trails, with two prominent meteor trails -- the two that I put up most recently as single-frame images. The first one occurs about 15 sec into the video, mid-left, and the second, larger one comes at 21 sec mid-right frame. These only last for a single frame, so don't blink or you'll miss them. You can maybe also see a few fleeting, dimmer trails at 19 to 20 sec in near the center. And of course the clouds moved in during the night. The flashes near the end in the lower right corner are probably from far-away lightning. I never heard any thunder. The prominent glow on the horizon is from Los Alamos, left, and Santa Fe, right. Albuquerque is off the frame to the right, and its glow is mostly what lights up the clouds. The sequence begins at 9:56 pm local time and ends at 5:44 am the next morning as it was just starting to rain. |
