The traveling was veryheavy for our teams, but at 3 p. m. we started on again andtraveled until 5:45, having come four and three-quarters miles,and twelve miles during the day. We encamped about twomiles from the river. The brethren dug a number of wells andfound very good water. Our camp ground is very low and wet,which makes it very disagieeable. The evening was very pleas-ant and the brethren were in good spirits. Wednesday, May 26th.—This morning was calm and pleas-ant, and at 8 a. m. we proceeded on our journey. After travel-ing between four and five miles we came to a point directlyopposite Chimney Rock. We had traveled forty-one and a halfmiles since it was first seen with the naked eye.
