eet. The passenger train yard is to be constructed by the Salt Lake andthe interchange yard by the Southern Pacific. Both companies reserve theright to admit one or more additional railroads to these new yards, butthe agreement does not bear anv reference to the use of the SouthernPacific Station facilities by any additional road other than the Pacific Elec-tric, which may be admitted at the election of the Southern Pacific. The Salt Lake also grants to the Southern Pacific for the sole use ofthe Pacific Electric without rental therefor, an easement during the lifeof the agreement, for a right of way of sufficient width, not exceeding 50feet, for the construction, maintenance and operation of a double-trackelectric railway along the Salt Lake right of way on the east bank of theriver from Aliso Street to the northerly curved bridge, as mentioned inthe agreement. The agreement further provides for the division of thecost of certain additions and bettertnents and the costs of operation.

.532 Los Angeles Termixai. Investigation Detailed Description of Proposed Construction Beginiiiiisj at the southerly etid of the present umbrella sheds at thepresent Southern Pacific station, it is proposed that the tracks rise, curveto the east and cross over Sixth Street and Alameda Street on a 0.6 percent ascending grade. It may be noted that the curvature is 10° and thatthe rate of grade is a one per cent compensated grade. The intersection of Sixth and Alameda Streets is to be depressed 5feet and the tracks carried over both of these streets. At Sixth Street thefull width of the street would be available, but at Alameda Street, due toa proposed connection to allow train movements from the station site intoAlameda Street south thereof, the width of the street is contracted from68 to 40 feet (41%), This plan of street depression and subway produces an extremely awk-ward situation at Sixth and Alameda Streets, which we do not believe thecit)- would look upon with favor.
