Deutsch: Die Betreiber waren heftige Konkurrenten, die Wagen ähneln sich. Die LESt verwendete von Anfang an Triebwagen mit zwei Fahrmotoren in verlustarmer Serienparallelschaltung, doch beim Bremssystem war sie mit der mechanischen und nicht bei Rückwärtsfahrt nutzbaren »Schleifenbremse« erstaunlich konservativ. Die GLSt hielt lange an den urtümlichen Union-Laufgestellen und einmotorigen Triebwagen mit kleiner Leistung fest, doch dafür nutzte sie vom ersten Tag des elektrischen Betriebes durchgehende Druckluftbremsen. Die Fensterteilung lang-kurz-lang mit herablassbarem Mittelfenster war um 1900 der letzte Schrei. Dass zwei Wagen der beiden Betreiber so in einem Schuppen nebeneinanderstehen, wäre vor 1916 praktisch unvorstellbar gewesen. Auch die Kupplungen waren nicht identisch, bei den Museumswagen hat man sich auf die Bauart der LESt verständigt. Dass auch bei den Linienbezeichnungen auf Abgrenzung geachtet wurde, dürfte selbstverständlich sein. Die GLSt verwendete bis zur Vereinigung Buchstaben, die LESt Zahlen. Einige Linien der alten LESt erwiesen sich auch nach der Vereinigung und der Schließung von unrentablen Parallelstrecken als erstaunlich langlebig. |
