Skalltak från kranium.

Description
Svenska: Skalltak som enligt tradition sägs komma från Johan Sparre, som avrättades vid Kalmar blodbad 1599. Det skänktes till Skoklosters samlingar under 1800-talets första hälf av en sentida släkting till Sparre.
Sparre hade försvarat Kalmar slott mot hertig Karl. Efter halshuggningen fästes kraniet över stadsporten.
Hans hustru Margareta Brahe Sparre ska ha tagit med sig kraniet i landsflykten till Polen efter makens avrättning. När hon begravdes 40 år senare i Brahekyrkan på Visingsö, gravsattes även makens huvud där. I Brahekyrkan finns en liten träkista vars inskription talar om att den innehåller Sparres kranium.
Den främre loben har fixerats med tre järnklamrar. Skallbiten har en rak kant nedtill, vilket tyder på att det sågats av. Att det sågats av kraniet i Brahekyrkan har inte kunnat styrkas, då ingen dokumentation av kistans innehåll finns. Sannolikt kommer kraniet från en annan individ.
