Summary[edit]

Description
English: Brisbane in 1862. This view of Brisbane in 1862 shows the area around the old Women's Factory Prison. The prison is the building behind the partly completed Normal School. Brisbane's present GPO building was erected near the site of the prison. On the right of the prison is St Stephen's Church, still standing. Edward Street can be seen running down the hill. Queen and Adelaide Streets can also be clearly seen.
