tedunsound behind, 93 per cent of such unsoundness beingin the hock. Here again we have evidence of the im-portance of a good hock, and based not upon theory, butactual fact. Of all horses becoming unsound, 61 percent did so because of their hoek going wrong. In theselection of breeding stock, no part should be given ascareful attention as the hock. The Conformation of Unsound Hocks. The conforma-tion of hock shoAvn at A in figure 67, was seldomfound with an unsound hock, while the sound horseswere mostly reported with that conformation. Thelargest number of unsound hocks was reported as beingof the conformation shown at B, in figure 67. The Correct Conformation of Pastern. Taking up theconformation of the fore legs, of the 32,902 horses re-ported as unsound, 11,165 of them were reported un-sound in front.
