Title
Tsuba with Fudû Myô-ô
Description
English: This tsuba depicts Fudô Myô-ô, the Immovable Bright King, who is shown in a cave at the right. Fudô is a deity in the Buddhist pantheon. He holds a sword in one hand and a rope in another to combat evil. His fierce expression is intended to ward off evil, not to scare worshippers. There is a waterfall at the left of the tsuba. On the reverse, a pine tree is at the left and a waterfall is at the right.
