Summary[edit]
DescriptionTam And Johnie - geograph.org.uk - 1213454.jpg |
English: Tam And Johnie Inspired by the poem Tam OShanter, the Tarbolton stonemason, James Thom, created these sculptures of Tam and Johnie in 1828. They were so successful that they were put on display on a tour of Britain in the 1830s, calling at Glasgow, Dumfries, Edinburgh and London. The small building next to the Monument is their permanent home. James Thom went to America, where he made his name by making replica statues of the famous pair. (Source: Information boards). |
