Summary[edit]

Description
English: The "fossil tree", Quinish As Peter Ward states, not a conventional fossil. The original tree was destroyed when lava overran it. The tree withstood the heat long enough to leave a void which was subsequently filled by later mineralisation. The roots are at the far end. I was not around at the time so have to take the geologists' word for this .....
