The Endeavorers of the Eastern Conference haveorganized an Endeavor Union, which holds a con-vention every Spring, and the Conference recognizedtlie Union and placed the Endeavor work in chargeof the Union. The by-laws of the United Society ofChristian Endeavor are about to be changedso that any Endeavorer may become a mem-ber of the corporation on election and pay-ment of one dollar. The Board of Trustees is to be increased to 100 to 150 members, in-cluding each state, territorial, or provincialunion president. Also each evangelical de-nomination may be represented by at leastone trustee for every thousand societies. 52 THE CHRISTIANS ANNUAL

CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR DEPARTMENT 53 Platform of Principles. We reaffirm our adherence to theprinciples which, under Gods bless-ing, have made the Christian En-deavor movement what it is to-day. First and foremost, personal de-votion to our divine Lord andSavior, Jesus Christ; the Bible,the inspired word of God, the onlyIule of faith and practice. Second. The covenant obligationembodied in the prayer-meetingpledge, without which there can beno true Society of Christian En-deavor. Third. Constant religious train-ing for all kinds of service involvedin the various committi es, which —so many of them as are needed —are, equally with the prayer-meet-ing, essential to a Society of Chris-tian Endeavor. Fourth. Strenuous loyalty to thelocal church and denomination withwhich each society is connected.This loyalty is jjlainly expressed inthe pledge; it underlies the wholeidea of the movement, and, as sta-tistics prove and pastors testify, isvery generally exemplified in thelives of the active
