Nothing could have happened moresatisfactorily to disprove the imputations which the conju-rers allege, and the general public believe, that the guitarsare wielded by the brothers, fast bound as they are knownto be, or by their supposed confederates. In a private room of a hotel in Manchester, in the pres-ence of Mr. Ferguson and a gentleman from London, thereoccurred some curious evidences of the powers of invisiblebeings. The poker was taken from the fireplace, and car-ried across the room, and placed upon the canopy over a bed.A small closed box was placed under the table at whichthey were sitting, by the gentleman above referred to; andon opening it, after a few moments, an inscription wasfound written on the inside of the cover, which had notbeen there previously.
