The rotting is;caused by a fungus—Fusarium bulbogenus—which attacks the leaves first and works downinto the crown of the bulb. The soil is-evidently infected. Gas lime is the most cer-tain means of destroying the fungus in the soil, but if not procurable quicklime and kainit may-be substituted. It would be advisable not toplant bulbs on the infected land for at leastone season. Communications Received— E. B. S., Puyallup.Washington (vour letter has been forwarded).—H.and Son—W. R.— G. M.—P.
