They were al-lowed to remain on condition that theywere to receive no financial aid from thesociety. Erom that time, they were as individuals responsible for the financialconduct of the school. As soon as Bish-op Bestarick was consecrated, theywrote to him, requesting him to take theschool, as they were unable to carry it onlonger. The bishop has signed the contract forthe new buildings, to cost $49,950. This, with the architects fees, will make atotal cost of $53,000. Toward this hehas on hand or pledged $31,000, so thatthe amount required is $22,000. Thebuilding is to be oompleted in 300 work-ing days. The Sisters, now retired, live in a cot-tage on the priory grounds. The workthey have done for Hawaiian women isincalculable.
