TENNESSEE CENTENNIAL 51 THE HOMEWARD RUN. The night run to Glasgo\v Jimction was made withoutspecial incident. After breakfast the httle branch train whichruns from the Junction to Mammoth Cave was crowdedwith the excursionists, and in a short time all were prepar-ing for the trip to the lower regions. The men donned costumes terrible to behold, and some ofthe ladies took to bloomers. Altogether it was a grotesqueprocession which entered the hole in the ground a half hourafter the party arrived at the hotel. One of the guidesunfeelingly remarked that the Brooklyn part\ looked likea line of well-fed convicts and bouncing bloomer girls. Onlya few miles of the Cave were traversed, owing to the limitedtime, but the journey underground was extremel) interestingso far as it went.
