The patriots were after them on all sides. After the close of the war there was considerable pressureon the part of absente;:s, or runaway tories, from all partsof the country, for ihe privilege of returning to the placesthat were once their homes. To this the patriots neverconsented. 22 THE TUCKER GENEALOGY Reuben* Tucker is buried in Digby, N. S.. just outsidea Masonic graveyard. His tombstone reads : TO THE MEMORY OF REUBEN TUCKER, WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE JUNE 12, 1803, AGED 56 YEARS. BLESSED ARE THE DEAD IHAT DIE IN THE LORD. His widow died February 11, 1825, aged 75 years, andis buried at Sandy Cove (20 miles from Digby), the slabmarking her grave reads : TO THE MEMORY OF RELIEF TUCKER, WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE FEBRUARY II, 1825, AGED 75 YEARS. BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART, FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD.

CHARLES^ TUCKER (Reuben^, Moses\ Josepk\Mor7is^), (youngest child of Reuben* and Relief* (Farns-worth) Tucker) was born in Townsend, Mass., on Oct.14, 1782. He removed with his parents to NovaScotia at the close of the Revolutionary War, and theysettled at Digby. In 1804 he was married to WeltheRuggles (Richard^, Gen. Timothy^, Rev. Timothy^, Capt.Samuel, Capt. Santuer, Thomas^), (daughter of Richard*and Wealthy^ (Hathaway) Ruggles) who was born in 1783. The Tucker homestead, built by Charles Tucker earlyin the century, is upon Digby Ridge, three miles from thetown of Digby, N. S, It is a beautiful spot, and has oneof the finest orchards in the province, with a view of DigbyHarbor through the trees. The dwelling is reached fromthe road by a long lane bordered on each side by rows oflilac bushes and snowball trees, planted alternately.
