In addition it may beused to make up for circuit los?es« In the latterrole its negative resistance neutralized thenatural positive resistance of the circuit caus-ing great amplification. The Pliotron is merely a sturdily builtthree element bulb haying two plated placed oneon either side cf the filament and connected to-gether. The grid is a wire wound around thefilament just inside of the two plates. The Pliotron is much used for wirelesstelephone transmission as a producer of highvoltage radio frequency currents, A simple wire-less telephone circuit is shown in Figure 12, Amore elaborate one is shovm in Figure 13, Thislatter circuit has two bulbs instead of one. The circuit used in the construction ofthe set under discussion is explained in thefollowing section together with the diagrams.
