important event of the year 1900 was thenegotiations between Mr. Boardman and officials of theNew Brunswick government for the transfer of Mr. Board-mans ornithological collection to that government. InMay and also in July of that year Messrs. Todd, Tweedie,and Dunn visited Calais for that purpose and during themonth of July an account of the birds and a catalogue ofthe eggs and nests in the museum were made. Duringthe year Mr. Boardman spent much time in the museumand it was visited by more people than ever before in asingle year. Its interest and value had become betterknown and among the visitors were scientific men fromabroad, children from the schools and college students.Many articles were written that year by Mr. Boardmanfor the Calais and St. Stephen newspapers and on Novem-ber 6 he records in his diary : Voted for McKinley.On December 5 the diary says: Mr. Dunn, Mr. Hilland Mr. Todd closed trade for my collection, payment tobe made in one, two and three years, with interest.

Dr Black called to see Mr. Boardman nearlyevery day during the remainder of the month and onDecember 31 he records: Had lots of callers; Dr.Black called here twice. But three entries appear in Mr. Boardmans diary forthe year 1901. They are : January 1 — Clear and fine;ther. 33 ; fine winter day ; Dr. Black here ; I had a badday. January 2 — Clear and cold; good many callers.January 3—Ther. 5 below zero ; windy and a cold night.This was the last. The diary that had been kept dailywith hardly an interruption for nearly forty-nine yearshad received its closing memoranda. Mr. Boardmandied at 12.40 oclock, Friday morning, January 11, 1901. The funeral services were held from Mr. Boardmanslate residence, No. 5 Lafayette street, Calais. Theywere attended by Rev. Dr. Charles G. McCully and Rev.Thomas D. McLean and the burial was i
