Along the FireholeCanon we wend our way amid scenes so wild andenchanting that I long to reproduce them with mycamera, though neither pen nor photograph can dojustice to their brilliant beauty. It is about eleven oclock when we reach theContinental Divide on the Pacific side, at an altitudeof 8,240 feet. Here we see the lovely Isa Lake en-closed in the rocky mountain pass, 500 feet inlength. Crossing the Divide through Craig Pass,we descend about 340 feet in the next two milesalong the slopes of Corkscrew Hill. How well thename fits this rugged height, travellers over thisroad know only too well. Our experienced driversmiles as he hears the exclamations of his pas-sengers when he makes a sudden turn in the road,close to the edgeof the precipice.
