The tourist willnotice on every hand evidences of the great en-gineering feats which have engaged the attentionof the Companys officers in the past few years, inthe elevation of tracks through large cities, theelimination of curvature, and the enormous cutsmade in the slopes of the Allegheny Mountains toreduce the grades. There is but little of scenic interest along the Theline until the Susquehanna River is crossed, just Rockvillebeyond the city of Harrisburg, on the longest and -*^^^^sewidest stone-arch bridge in the world. Thisbridge, which is 3800 feet in length and carries thefour-tracked main line of the Pennsylvania Rail-road, was eighteen months in building and re-quired 200,000 tons of stone in its construction. Leaving the bridge the route follows the course Up theof the Juniata River through the mountains for J^^^^^^over one hundred miles. This river, remarkable forthe clear blue color of its water, has cut a tortuouspath through the great foothills of the AUeghenies
