Description
English: U.S. Sailors assigned to guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72), under way in the Gulf of Oman, Feb. 7, 2009, use a rigid-hulled inflatable boat to approach a dhow that needs assistance. The Sailors boarded the dhow, a lateen-rigged boat, to help local fishermen repair their boat's engine. Vella Gulf is the flagship for Combined Task Force 151, a multinational task force that detects and combats piracy in and around the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Red Sea.
