Description

English: Chief Hospital Corpsman Ron Palustre puts a medical identification bracelet on a Filipino patient as she enters the medical ward of USS Peleliu (LHA 5), June 29. Each day up to 20 individuals are flown to the ship via helicopter for treatment. The medical staff is a team of U.S. and foreign military doctors, uniformed and civilian health care professionals and non-government organization medical professionals aboard Peleliu. Peleliu is uniquely capable of supporting medical and humanitarian assistance needs and has been configured with special medical equipment and a robust multi-specialized medical team to provide a range of services.
