Description
Svenska: SKÅL, 2 st. Dekor i flerfärgad målning. Japan, Arita kilns, c.1800-78These charming bowls are the very first acquisition of Asian ceramics that the Countess made, in 1879. They were bought in Stockholm from a small shop specialising in Oriental wares. The year of purchase is in fact quite useful, for it can be difficult to date such pieces. The bowls are decorated in a manner that harks back to late 17th century porcelain. In the 19th century the Arita kilns made pieces in revival styles, so the bowls were probably made between 1800 and 1878.
