The building in the background is the „Zentrum für nachhaltige Technologien“, „Witega-Laboratorien“, Magnusstraße 11, belonging to WISTA, a part of Berlins suburb Treptow-Köpenick with a concentration of science and high tech businesses, founded in 1992.

Der neu angelegte Platz trägt seit 2002 seinen Namen zur Erinnerung an den Architekten Christian Havestadt, (1852-1908), dessen Büro unter anderem federführend beim Bau des Teltowkanals war.
