Music

[edit]

Does it not deserve credit? --Itu (talk) 12:39, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the Wikimedia blog entry here and on File:Wikipedia Edit2014.ogv, it's the making of... incl. info about the music. –Be..anyone (talk) 13:01, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is not enough. I believe we should link directly to the file of the cello performance that is used in the video, at minimum. It would be even better to state the composer (Bach), the piece and the performer, as well as the license of the recording. --YurB (talk) 18:34, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ah sorry, I see the link to the file is among the images. But still, saying "Music by Andy R. Jordan" without mentioning Bach in the main credits seems a bit misleading. --YurB (talk) 18:42, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But Bach's music is still in PD (more than 100 years from author's death), and PD does not require attribution.--Anatoliy (talk) 18:52, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
According to Ukrainian law - requiers (uk:Немайнові права). And I`d be pretty amused if the law of USA doesn`t contain the same. --A1 (talk) 19:05, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ukrainian and US copyright laws are different. And if you link to Ukrainian law you should know that Особисті немайнові права автора не можуть бути передані (відчужені) іншим особам and Особисті немайнові права автора не переходять у спадщину. As you know, Bach is already died and cannot demand to provide his нейманові права.--Anatoliy (talk) 19:13, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Bach's music itself is in PD, but both the recording and the performance are protected by copyright. Moreover, while one may not have to attribute Bach, one still can't say he's the author of what's been in fact written by someone else even if it's in PD. --YurB (talk) 21:23, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Blue button

[edit]

The one above the license, I believe it has a typo? Can't figure where to fix it right now, sorry! --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 14:26, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ACK, somehow it didn't occur to me that a big button is still a button.:-) Ugly template for the creation of lots of ugly (not hidden) cats. –Be..anyone (talk) 03:45, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I hoped the typo would be corrected, did so myself. Thanks and regards, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 11:21, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
