Please don't start the war of renaming. --Shakko (talk) 22:23, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think the move war is in any way productive, and I personally do not see any problems with the current name. I suggest that the page not be moved without any further discussion. I also suggest that this discussion, since it operates with pretty general notions, would be held not here bu at Commons:Village Pump.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:10, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Initial file name (File:Albertrandi Catherine II.jpg):

- was not misleading for peple aware of the subject - it contained the last name of the author and international version of the name of person depicted (common approach for monarchs),

- was harmonized with file names in the main category - Category:Italian paintings in the Royal Castle in Warsaw,

- was shoter more clear for non-English speakers and withot special characters (dots).

Current file name (File:Catherine II by A.Albertrandi after Rokotov.jpg):

- is misleading for peple aware of the subject - what is Rokotov? the author of initial composition was Alexandre/Alexander Roslin, Albertrandi has only borrowed some facial features from Feodor / Fedor / Fyodor / Fiodor Rokotov version,

- why the opinion from the person who has done nothing to directly improve the file and its description (according to file history) has priority when it comes to the file name? why such a privilege and no respect to people who have created and improved the file?

- I have a lot of examples when requests for renaming were rejected on the grounds of not valid reason, despite the fact that requestor have significantly improved the file and its description, and have certian knowledge.

Conclusion

The Initial file name should be restored.

The request for renaming should be rejected at the very beinning, as not valid.

Please be fair and consistent in your approach. Vert (talk) 15:29, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
