Multichill, Yes it is still used if you look at line 207. We did have the following messages:

MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-source-missing -> "This file is lacking source information."
MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-source-missing-request -> "Please edit this file's description and provide a source."
MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-description-missing -> "This file has no description, and may be lacking other information."
MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-description-missing-request -> "Please provide a meaningful description of this file."
MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-author-missing -> "This file is lacking author information."

But we did not have MediaWiki:Wm-license-information-author-missing-request so this blank message ("") allows the same code to handle "source", "description" and "author" fields, without some special treatment of the "author" field. --Jarekt (talk) 03:02, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
