Warning: Rules governing digital restoration and upscaling of Commons images[edit]
Hello Jeffrey17363: Thank you for your recent edits, which certainly show a high level of mastery of photo manipulation software. It is important to respect the policies and rules of Wikimedia Commons regarding the alteration of images. Upscaled images (even high quality upscaled images like yours) cannot be used to overwrite existing images. Upscaling is frowning upon here but, if an editor feels he/she must upscale, then the upscaled images must be uploaded as separate files.
As for image manipulation, it is OK to upload a new version of an image with corrections of coloration, levels, sharpness, noise, etc. that are within reasonable limits of restoration. I frankly think that some of your manipulation is excessive. File:PRINCESS DIANA flag (5112486207).jpg, for example, looks more like a digital drawing than the original film-based photograph that it was.
Don't be surprised or offended if some of your uploads are reverted as policy violations.
For more complete information please review this policy page: COM:OW#Exceptions to the minor changes rule. Respectfully -- WikiPedant (talk) 03:22, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
Reply: Jeffrey17363 I am new to Wikipedia and only wish to upload files for John Mathew Smith per his request. John has reviewed and approved all of the images that I have uploaded. Since all these images are the intellectual property of John, I would conclude that he has the final say on what versions of his photos he wants to represent the work that he generously donated to Wikipedia Commons. I have no interest in editing anybody's photos other than John's and do not intend to work on any images except for photos taken by John Mathew Smith.
Please feel free to contact John at: johnmathewsmith@yahoo.com If you wish to get his input.
All the best,
