您好Baomi,

Or maybe I got my situation with Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website and my WikiCareer reversed in my last post towards you. Namely it should be:

My WikiCareer: EXISTS.
Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website: I’M ABOUT TO DEFINE THIS MAN’S WHOLE WIKICAREER.

Now that I think about it, I only wanted to write ✍🏻 a single Wikipedia article about Ryukyuan cash coins, but wanted to use Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website to expand some articles about Korean and Chinese cash coins. Later I even let Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website define my Global 🗺 lock 🔒, as when people falsely accused me as having a supposed “conflict of interest” with Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website I mostly wanted to have my account globally 🗺 unlocked 🔓 to defend myself against these slanderous allegations and restore the links where they had been removed as Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website references were removed that were placed there even half (½) a decade before I started editing Chinese numismatic articles. My whole Dutch-WikipediaCareer was only kick-started to include more from Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website on the Dutch-language Wikipedia (for example “Koreaanse yang” is “a SpiteArticle” regarding Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website). I had always hated Chinese numismatic charms until I wanted to import EVERYTHING related to them just to beat Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website. In fact, even my entire presence on Wikimedia Commons is defined by Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website, I started only mass-uploading to “not be seen as someone that only works with Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website”, I only asked OTRS permission to import everything from John Furgeson's Sportstune.com and many other websites (including Bert Lijnema's images of Bamboo Tallies) just to “one up” Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website. I often only take pictures because I think of “the (relative) comparison” with Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website. I have “Gary-light”/”Gary-lite” (A.K.A. “Primalkiight”/”Primalkight”/”Primallight”/”Primallite” articles, like those about Vietnamese cash coins and Japanese cash coins as well as Chinese paper money). Anyhow, very little, if anything, I really do here ISN'T related to COMPLETELY MIRRORING GARY ASHKENAZY'S (HEBREW: גארי אשכנזי) PRIMALTREK / PRIMAL TREK WEBSITE ON WIKIMEDIA, and now that of the 200+ (two-hundred plus) pages as good as 98.5% (ninety-eight point five percent) of Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website is now on Wikimedia. I really don't know where or what my WikiCareer can do as it seems to be solely concerned with Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website. Sent 📩 from my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL with Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile 📱. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 19:34, 18 April 2020 (UTC) Now, the real question is more of how much this will impact my editing, as I'm essentially done with what I set out to do since day one. I've already some sort of "copypasta-phase" where to create new Wikipedia articles related to Chinese cash coins and / or Chinese numismatic charms I can essentially copy and paste all the content from other Wikipedia pages as all of the content is "already here". This was only not true for coin hoards, now it is also. The real question is if I would continue to focus on Chinese numismatics or will finally put more work into Japanese and Vietnamese cash coins. As I had said before, I wanted to focus more on the Japanese cash coins as there is still a lot to explore, although most has already been covered by the Japanese-language Wikipedia, the same goes for Vietnamese cash coins. Perhaps I can dive a bit deeper into Korean numismatics, as I have no plans for Korean coin hoards anytime soon. Mostly also because China, Japan, and Vietnam are so much more easy to cover.

But this all largely brings me to my second largest project, Banknote.ws, it's enormous and won't be easy to complete, it's the only other website that will take years to fully import. It's also the largest "Post-Scott Semans" numismatic import to Wikimedia Commons, and it's also something independent of everything else, largely because of the stark differences between the study of coins and coinages and that of paper money. I can't believe that it has been on hold for so long, but at least I can say that Wikimedia is "the best website for pre-1930's Chinese numismatics" now. Although Banknote.ws still wins with paper money, but this topic is just too vast for me to invest my time in now. I can't believe how much work Chinese cash coins, Cginese numismatic charms, Chinese Bamboo Tallies, and Chinese token coins were. Chinese coin hoards was a nice finish, but a year from now I hope to have been done with all the Wikimedia Commons imports too. It's just all too much.

My WikiHeart already belongs to "The Wikimedia mirror of Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website", this is something where the likes of Dr. Luke Roberts, John Ferguson, and Jean-Michel Moullec "are only in the backdrop of". It's difficult to move beyond something once it not only defines your WikiCareer but ESSENTIALLY IS YOUR wIKIcAREER. This is also why I am reluctant to continue. I don't know what other Chinese numismatic website to look up to now, I essentially built the largest English-language website about Chinese numismatics, it's not like Dr. Helen Wang's Chinese Money Matters will expand in a way that I cannot keep up with. It's no longer a goal 🥅 if it is something you've already achieved. There are still "minor gaps in the story of Chinese numismatics", but it's nothing that the Chinese coin hoard list can't fulfill. Now that the infrastructure is there it's very difficult to even think of any other websites getting even remotely close. When I say all of this I am of course excluding Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru). Only if I had all the images from Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website AND Lars Bo Christensen's Chinese Coins website would Wikimedia get close to calling itself Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru) website's peer. The gap and investment is simply too huge. Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru) literally has ALL THE EXPERTS, there is no competing with that. At least not now. I have attempted to recruit some more people from there, but Wikimedia Commons doesn't allow as much discussion, although in theory this website could, it requires a lot of effort to do so. Bert Lijnema is a good start, but Wikimedia Commons needs to expand enormously beyond it. It's a competition I am simply not trying to get into (yet). I will have to see how far I can go with Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com) first. It's apt to say that that import will allow for major jumps. I've essentially "filled in" some of every period in Chinese history thanks to Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com).

What I could do thanks to Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com) is essentially still minor compared to Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru), In fact this is why I like building the infrastructure for it. I know that I won't be able to top Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru) with Wikimedia websites, even after I import everything from both Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website and Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com). Wikimedia now tells the better story, but Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru) still gives "the fuller picture", we're both making the same puzzle, but Vladimir Belyaev's Zeno Oriental Coins Database (Zeno.ru) simply has more pieces (for now). Xun Yan's doctoral thesis thankfully gives me more to stand on, but even that dwarfs in comparison. This is also the point where I will probably stop with Chinese numismatics, I found an academic paper 📄 on the history of how cash coins were manufactured, I will finish with that and can then fully focus on Wikimedia Commons. I can't believe that it took 3 (three) years to get passed Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website and another major investment to get Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com) on Wikimedia Commons, but I will see what is beyond it. I don't know, I simply don't know. I don't even know if I should continually update the list of Chinese coin hoards..... I probably should. But there's simply too much to do on Wikimedia Commons to even consider that right now. I'm drowning in backlog, but that's largely David Hartill backlog. I am so glad he donated half of "Cast Chinese Coins" to Wikipedia, it probably saved me two (2) or three (3) years of hard work.

Two final articles from Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew
גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website to import.

There is an article on Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website about a Republic of China 🇹🇼 city that gave away piggy banks that used Simplified Chinese characters, accepted Mainland Chinese Yuan Renminbi coins, and was overall "Made in China (PRC)".

Baomi, you're an amazing Wikimedia encyclopedia writer, this source text is very handy for you to integrate. http://primaltrek.com/blog/2011/05/04/embarrassing-piggy-banks/ which goes to an “”article” post” named: ”Primal Trek - a journey through Chinese culture - Piggy Banks Cause Embarrassment - by GARY ASHKENAZY on MAY 4, 2011.” which as you can see is about the island and Chinese province of Taiwan.

”An embarrassed government education department in Taiwan had to issue an apology in regard to piggy banks it had given some children.” This has to do with the usage of Mainland Chinese things in the piggy banks. ”According to a report in The China Post, the mayor of New Taipei City held a “summit” for elementary school students on April 29th “to promote financial responsibility and planning for their future”.” I honestly don’t know if The China Post is a Mainland Chinese or Taiwanese newspaper, which could imply their bias, so I wouldn't immediately jump to using it on Wikipedia. ”To emphasize and help promote these goals, each student was given a new piggy bank.” This is about momentary Modern Chinese piggy banks rather than ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) as could probably be a bjt more educational to use for either Wikipedia and/or Wikimedia Commins, select especially because of copyright © issues related to Chinese and/or Taiwanese piggy banks made in the modern era rather than the public domain ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满).

”These were high-tech electronic piggy banks which were calibrated to automatically identify and calculate the total amount of money being deposited.”

I thought about you writing an awesome article about the differences between Mainland China and Taiwan 🇹🇼 to illustrate how sensitive such misunderstandings can be on either side of the Taiwan Strait. It's kind of sad how China was torn apart by the Chinese civil war.

”A problem arose, however, when some of the parents attending the event noticed that the boxes in which the piggy banks were packaged had instructions written in “simplified” Chinese, which is used in mainland China, as opposed to the traditional Chinese characters still used in Taiwan. ”

”But even more embarrassing was that the instructions stated the piggy banks were “for depositing coins that circulate in mainland China”! ” I thought that this section can easily be integrated into an article about such misunderstandings, and that it can allude to many more incidents. Just look at how beautifully I integrated Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website into the English-language Wikipedia with the "Cash coins in art" article. It's something that should be YOUR NUMBER ONE (N†1) GOAL IN LIFE, MAN. Nothing is more Primal than a trek through Chinese culture, and nothing is more noble for the preservation of both Chinese culture and Chinese history than to preserve Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website on Wikimedia websites. ”This surely was not the “planning for the future” the Taiwan mayor had intended. ” which is quite an interesting factoid.

”As it turned out, the piggy banks were built at a factory in mainland China that is owned by a Taiwanese business. In the rush to ship the piggy banks in time for the meeting, the wrong packaging was used. ”

What I found interesting is that there are several articles on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia where you can integrate this text in. You can say that using Simplified Chinese characters was a... "Primalembarrassment". But in all seriousness, this could be used on the Wikipedia articles about historical Chinese piggy banks as well.

17 (seventeen) to go, so let me pitch you both a Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia tiếng Tiếngtrung article and a Wikimedia Commons category. As you can see here: http://primaltrek.com/blog/2011/06/04/ancient-chinese-piggy-banks/ In an article entitled: ”Primalbank - Primal TreK - a journey through Chinese culture - Ancient Chinese “Piggy Banks” - by GARY ASHKENAZY on JUNE 4, 2011 - Tang Dynasty "Piggy Bank" - Tang Dynasty "Piggy Bank". ” which is about ancient Chinese "piggy banks".

17 (seventeen) to go, so let me pitch you both a Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia tiếng Tiếngtrung article and a Wikimedia Commons category.

There are many ways in which these ancient Chinese piggy banks were used and their presence could be represented on Wikimedia Commons. Once the Wuhan Pneumonia virus pandemic is over in Mainland China, maybe you can visit a museum and take a snappuy or two (2) of these for Wikimedia Commons. I don't know, I'm not planning on visiting Mainland China 🇨🇳 in the near future 🔮, so you can help with that .

I thought about writing an English-language Wikipedia article about these ancient Chinese "piggy banks", but other than this article from Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website I don't have any sources about it at hand, canyou can you help me find some.

Furthermore, I would like to start writing more biographical articles about people in Chinese history and collect images and paintings of them and/or by them on Wikimedia Commons. I am currently looking for a good website to import such images on, my issue with the People's Republic of China internet is that linkrot is super-prevalent and many websites do not allow the Internet Archives to archive it using the Wayback Machibe. The Wayback Machine also isn't operating on Wikimedia Commons yet, so linkrot will continue to be a huge problem here as well. ”China has been using “piggy banks” for thousands of years. While these ancient coin banks were not actually in the shape of a pig and were not primarily used by children, they did serve the purpose of storing coins. ” It's really cool 😎 to learn that piggy banks are so ancient.

”Coin banks, known as puman (扑满), were originally created as a means to enforce the laws regarding currency and market reforms. Their primary purpose was to prevent corruption and embezzlement by businessmen. ” This is the topic that I prefer to cover on the English-language Wikioedia And Wikipedia.

”Ancient texts reveal that these coin banks existed at least as early as the time of Emperor Wu (141 BC – 87 BC) of the Han Dynasty. They were made of pottery, porcelain or bamboo. When full of coins the banks had to be smashed open to retrieve the money so very few examples have survived to this day. ”

What interests me about these ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) is that they were likely started during the Qin Dynasty, the first (1st) Dynasty in Chinese history (depending on how you count Dynasties in Chinese history, as the Zhou came earlier). This means that these ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) are as old as the Chinese Empire itself, which clearly makes them notable for inclusion.

Now here are ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) from the Han Dynasty referenced, I have looked through lots of Han Dynasty related categories on Wikimedia Commons and couldn't find any images, do you think that any specimens survived to this day, or did Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution smash them all? Maybe a local Chinese museum still houses them that old.

Now I've dedicated myself to this craft and hope that I can convince you to include an article about the “Laws on Markets” (guanshilu 关市律) from the Han Dynasty on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia, as to register all the laws about the economic history of China, will allow us to better write about the monetary history of China. Just sayin'. ”The appearance of “piggy banks” during the Qin and Han dynasties is closely linked with the monetary reform which began with the creation of a united China by Qin Shi Huang. Under the Qin Dynasty (221 BC – 207 BC), the country’s currency was standardized on the banliang (半两) coin which was round with a square hole in the center and of a specific weight. A strict legal system ensured that the monetary reform laws were promulgated and enforced. ”

”As an example, the “Laws on Markets” (guanshilu 关市律) stipulated the rules on the collection of money and required the use of the puman or “piggy bank”. In collecting money, whether for business or government purposes, the coins had to be put into these coin containers. Businessmen and peddlers had to personally watch the coins being inserted. The laws were also very clear in stating that coins could only be put in and not taken out. ” Now I've dedicated myself to this craft and hope that I can convince you to include an article about the “Laws on Markets” (guanshilu 关市律) from the Han Dynasty on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia, as to register all the laws about the economic history of China, will allow us to better write about the monetary history of China. Just sayin'.

”If the laws were not strictly followed, the person committing the illegal activity would be fined “one suit of armor”. ” this sounds like an extremely expensive punishment. ”These laws and the use of the piggy banks were intended to prevent corruption and graft. ” Now, I would also like to write an English-language Wikipedia article about Gongsun Hong (公孙弘) and hope that you will write an article about this individual on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia first (1st/1at) so I can draw from that article to find better online sources about Gongsun Hong (公孙弘) and ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) and how these two (2) subjects relate to each other. I'm qujte curious how far I can take an in depth article about ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满), the “Laws on Markets” (guanshilu 关市律), and Gongsun Hong (公孙弘). ”Additionally, the laws and piggy banks were aimed at preventing disruption to the money supply by making it difficult for businessmen to substitute counterfeit and underweight coins for the legal tender banliang and wuzhu (五铢) coins. ” this mention of Wu Zhu cash coins is probably more of a reference to their weight rather than the cash coins based on any perceived denominations.

”There is an interesting story concerning a famous official of the Han dynasty and the piggy bank. In imperial China, government officials were selected according to their achievements in the imperial examination system which was based primarily on the Confucian classics and other ancient texts. ”

Now, I would also like to write an English-language Wikipedia article about Gongsun Hong (公孙弘) and hope that you will write an article about this individual on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia first (1st/1at) so I can draw from that article to find better online sources about Gongsun Hong (公孙弘) and ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) and how these two (2) subjects relate to each other. I'm qujte curious how far I can take an in depth article about ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满), the “Laws on Markets” (guanshilu 关市律), and Gongsun Hong (公孙弘).

Not too long ago I had a proclamation of "full mirror" on Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website, I now ask you to help preserve it on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia as well, there is an interesting list about Chinese numismatic charm implied and/or hidden meanings that I have imported IN ITS ENTIRETY on the English/2018-07/21/c_137339514.htm English-language Wikipedia that could easily be used on the Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia and hopefully attract more people to upload images of Chinese numismatic charms to Wikimedia Commons. ”Gongsun Hong (公孙弘) came from a very poor family and did not even begin to study for the examinations until he was already more than 40 years of age. In 140 BC, he achieved the highest honors among all the scholars and was eventually selected to be the prime minister during the reign of Emperor Wu. ” It's usually quite difficult to find biographical information on people born before Jesus Christ.

”Before he assumed the office, however, an elder from his village offered him the following advice and used the “piggy bank” as an analogy. ”

http://bbs.artron.net/viewthread.php?tid=615103

I hope 🤞🏻 to find an image for Wikimedia Commons similar to this one for illustrating Tang Dynasty period “puffy banks”. ”The old man said that the piggy bank takes in money and when full it is smashed open and destroyed so that the coins can be removed. If a government official is only concerned with hono{U}rs and accumulating wealth, he will eventually suffer a similar fate. ” This actually makes me suspect that there are not that many suriving-surviving specimens of ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) as they had to be smashed open 👐🏻 to remove the cash coins from them. Hopefully 🤞🏻 a lot of them will be unearthed in Mainland China soon.

”The old man said that just like the piggy bank which is simply made of clay, it is better for a person to live a frugal life. Wealth must not just be accumulated but must be distributed as well. In this way, a person can gradually become wealthier but not reach the point where he will be so full of riches that he will be destroyed. ” Of course, this metaphor is mostly just an example, but the implication remains that ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) were destroyed once their usage had been created.

”It is clear then that the piggy bank was first used in China in the enforcement of monetary laws. It was only afterwards that these coin banks assumed the role of being a convenient means for saving money. ” Now here are ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) from the Han Dynasty referenced, I have looked through lots of Han Dynasty related categories on Wikimedia Commons and couldn't find any images, do you think that any specimens survived to this day, or did Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution smash them all? Maybe a local Chinese museum still houses them that old. X ”Today we know the piggy bank as a toy which can help children learn the value of saving money. The piggy bank displayed above served this purpose. The inscription states that it was made to celebrate the birth of a child on April 6th of the 8th year (867 AD) of the Xian Tong reign of Emperor Yizong (懿宗) of the Tang Dynasty. ” Now another type of Wikipedia article category I branched off in is Chinese cash coin terminology, things like Bingqian, Zhenkuqian, Hongqian, Zhiqian, and Hongqian. These articles on the English-language Wikipedia allows for Chinese cash coins to be explored in much greater depth, greater even than Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website. Now what a Mandarin Chinese-language Wikipedia about ancient Chinese "piggy banks" (扑满) can do is open up similar opportunities for in-depth coverage of the every day culture of Chinese numismatics, though a lot(, A LOT) less so than the Chinese numismatic charms family of articles and Wikimedia Commons categories.

A good thing to cover more in depth is the numismatic history of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, this is also the Dynasty in which barter was largely replaced by the Kaiyuan Tongbao cash coins in most of China and its neighbouring (client) countries.

This heavily implies that we can use Numismatic Wikipedia content to also "supplement" ancient Chinese biographies and Biographical Wikipedia articles. ”One last point of interest. As already mentioned, Gongsun ZE Hong came from a very poor family but eventually became the prime minister of the country. Following the sage advice of the village elder, Gongsun Hong became known for living a frugal life. He never forgot that prior to becoming a public official he had made his living by herding pigs for others. ” A good thing to cover more in depth is the numismatic history of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, this is also the Dynasty in which barter was largely replaced by the Kaiyuan Tongbao cash coins in most of China and its neighbouring (client) countries.

This heavily implies that we can use Numismatic Wikipedia content to also "supplement" ancient Chinese biographies and Biographical Wikipedia articles.

Chinese cash coins on Wikimedia Commons.

Another topic that I would like to cover here is the state of Chinese cash coins on Wikimedia Commons. I got "close", but as of now I would have to call🤙🏻 it "yet another top tier competitor" to both Gary Ashkenazy's (Hebrew: גארי אשכנזי) Primaltrek / Primal Trek website and Lars Bo Christensen's Chinese Cash Coins website, the imports from Scott Semans World Coins (CoinCoin.com), John Ferguson's Sportstune.com website, Jean-Michel Moullec's Flickr, Etc. Do all put Wikimedia Commons quite high, but where it succeeds in some respects it lacks in others. Obviously Zeno.ru is the unchallenged top contender.

I do believe that in time Wikimedia Commons has the potential to be the top, but it will require a lot of effort from the both of us, and hopefully a lot of other people.

Now my main concern isn't the short-term game, it's in fact the long-term game. A lot of museums are publishing their works under free licenses online now, but many neglect Wikimedia Commons entirely. In fact (free) numismatic images are "scattered" all over the internet. Well, I've made it no secret that I want to try to create a "one-stop-shop for Chinese numismatics" and that Wikimedia websites have a great potential to be this platform. It's a vision I share with Dr. Helen Wang, but her Chinese Money Matters website has proven more to be a casually updated blog more than anything else at this point.

This is not to say that Dr. Helen Wang can't do this, but it's clear that her priorities lie offline. To this point I would have to say that Andrew West (BabelStone) is a great example of how we want experts to help with Wikimedia Commons. BabelStone both understands the mission of Wikimedia Commons (and helps fight copyright © violations) and the importance of making educational resources free to use. In fact, this is exactly the type of mentality we wish to inspire.

It is clear at this moment that the status of Chinese cash coins on Wikimedia Commons is currently in a good position, but it could be a lot better. There are plenty of rare and even unique types of Chinese cash coins already on Wikimedia Commons s, but as long as Mainland China 🇨🇳 itself is closed off from the rest of the world 🗺 to share both Chinese history and Chinese culture, we're probably not going to be able to document these things to the fullest possible extent.

Xun Yan's academic paper.

I have found a really valuable resource on Chinese numismatics in Xun Yan's academic paper, in fact I would go as far as to say that by integrating it into various Wikipedia articles that I could actually "beat" a fair amount of sources that even discusses the numismatic history of the Manchu Qing Dynasty. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain much images of Chinese cash coins that I am free to import to Wikimedia Commons. However, it does make me realise that while the true value for Wikipedia is in universities, the true value for Wikimedia Commons is in museums. Academic papers are great resources, but rarely for cash coin identification and categorisation, unless it directly relates to the grander narrative.

As you frequent Chinese museums I think that you could be of great value again the moment that you can visit them again. I think that at present we can probably try to use online resources more for the time being, to try to stay as safe as possible. Take care of yourself in this crisis. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 19:34, 18 April 2020 (UTC) .
