Automated removal of parameter names
[edit]For positional parameters, as e.g. in Language templates, often a parameter name "1=" (or "2=" ...) is set.
Until now in the progress of a general cleanup the necessity of this parameter name had been checked to remove not-necessary position numbers;
but the community wishes that this is kept untouched; so the check is not further executed. -- sarang♥사랑 10:20, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
Allowed and forbidden cleanup
[edit]Is differing between visible and invisible 100% the dfifference between allowed and unwanted?
Depending e.g. the insertion of Igen into Agriculture mix.svg an Sept. 16 the situation is
- minuscel description: メ unwanted
- typo "Composition", "Monuments", "T-shirt": ✓ allowed
(thanks god it was without "1=") - sequence date-source-author correction: メ unwanted
- minuscel date: メ unwanted
- date is date and not the timestamp: ✓ allowed ?
- crazy usage of asterisks remove: ✓ allowed
- "based" for source file: ✓ allowed
- minuscel author: メ unwanted
- author is author without his talk page: ✓ allowed ?
- "|Permission" and "|other_versions" remove: メ unwanted
- "other fields=Igen": ✓ allowed
- "Retouched" into Igen: ✓ allowed, but
- understroke replace: メ unwanted ?
- template for file history: ✓ allowed because visible
- template for User link: メ unwanted because invisible
- Category sort: メ unwanted
- Removal of superfluous empty lines: ✓ allowed when visible
- Removal of superfluous empty lines: メ unwanted when invisible
9 visible changes are ✓ allowed, but 9 invisible seem メ unwanted ?
Changing User:Mark Miller, User:Herostratus and User:Masur to Mark Miller, Herostratus and Masur is clearly visible.
When the list Mark Miller, Herostratus and Masur=Mark Miller, Herostratus and Masur becomes changed to Mark Miller=Mark Miller, Herostratus and Masur it will not be immediately visible in English — but in all other languages!
I made the Template:Userlist not to make other users angry, and not just to simplify coding, but to internalionalize sucessfully such a list. -- sarang♥사랑 12:10, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
Errors in relation to citation template
[edit]I don't know whether it was this script or simpleSVGcheck.js, but I wanted to report errors if Template:Cite journal is transcluded: Special:Diff/693325308, Special:Diff/695103838 etc. --Leyo 13:14, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
@Leyo: Thank you for informing about that error (ich hätte es eher gesehen wenn gepingt..), I will give it a look and tell when it is repaired. 05:46, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
@Leyo: I could find it, the error is from Perhelion, since ~2018, something with own_replace_1
;
since the version maintained by me is active, I can react swiftly - shall I remove the function, it should not harm other options ?
-- sarang♥사랑 09:41, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking into it. I can't really tell what's the best solution as I don't use the script. But, surely, this error should be avoided. --Leyo 13:51, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
Why add template:U?
[edit]@Sarang: hi! was there consensus to change Example to Example? personally i would not want such changes to my uploads. RZuo (talk) 16:58, 20 November 2022 (UTC) @RZuo: tell me please where your userlink had been changed -- sarang♥사랑 05:38, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- i dont know if any of my username has been changed this way, but i do not think such changes to any files are good. RZuo (talk) 05:41, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- @RZuo: ok, you believe that; but with some treatments of files, as e.g. SVG validation, since many years also a general cleanup of the description is performed. This is nowadays standard on commons. A few users made precautions to avoid their user_links cleaned up, you may do so as well. Otherwise it may happen to you — but not as long as you don't tag SVG files. -- sarang♥사랑 09:50, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- i asked whether there was consensus to do so.
- i'm also sceptical about replacing intrawiki links with a template. why call a template when it doesnt have benefits? RZuo (talk) 10:06, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- The Interwiki link templates have disadvantages but also heavy benefits. Writing the links to your pages looks RZuo or RZuo without the alarming red, as long as you do not establish userpages (at least as redirekts to the user talk pages). This is as well valid for the other links. -- sarang♥사랑 14:13, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- i said intrawiki links, links within this project.
- you're replacing them with U not Ut. RZuo (talk) 15:11, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

New release
[edit](to Kalliauer/@Minorax and Mrmw: /Petrus3743/RicHard-59/Smokefoot) Before I start substantial changes at my testversion, this stable-looking version is put into use. It should work without any problem. In case of any error, pls let me know, fallback is easy. -- sarang♥사랑 13:52, 19 December 2022 (UTC) -
