Deutsch: Der Zürichsee liegt südöstlich von Zürich in den Kantonen Zürich, St. Gallen und Schwyz. Der Hauptzufluss ist die Linth, welche im Tödi-Massiv im Kanton Glarus entspringt und nach einem künstlichen Umweg (Linthkorrektion von 1807 bis 1816) über den Walensee als de:Linthkanal bei Schmerikon in den oberen Zürichsee (Obersee) mündet.
English: Zürichsee (Lake Zurich) is a lake in the cantons of Zürich, St. Gallen and Schwyz in Switzerland. Geographically, it is located in the southwestern part of the canton of Zürich. To the east are – separated by Zürichberg-Alisberg, Forch and Pfannenstiel. To the west Zimmerberg and Etzel region is located.
Zürichsee is strictly the name of the part of the lake downstream of the dam between Hurden and Rapperswil, mostly located within the canton of Zürich. The part upstream of the Rapperswil dam is called Obersee, and is shared between the cantons of St. Gallen and Schwyz.
