IFFR

Ik ben deze week bezig foto's te nemen op het filmfestival van Rotterdam. Vanavond zijn er twee premières op hetzelfde tijdstip. Kan er iemand foto's maken van de première van Tussen 10 en 12? o.a. Raymond Thiry, Ko Zandvliet, Cynthia Abma en Nasrdin Dchar zullen hier waarschijnlijk aanwezig zijn. fotografen

Op de NL Wikipedia is er een pagina Wikipedia:Fotografen. Daarop kunnen mensen zich aanbieden om in de omgeving waar ze regelmatig komen, op verzoek foto's te maken. Daar kunnen mensen ook aangeven als ze foto's in het buitenland kunnen maken. Maar ik bedacht dat je misschien wel lang kunt wachten totdat er een Nederlander of Belg toevallig eens naar land X gaat om gebouw Y te fotograferen, maar dat het veel handiger is om dan iemand uit dat land zelf te benaderen. Daarom zou er m.i. eigenlijk een wereldwijde lijst moeten komen waarop iedereen zich kan bekendmaken, en dat we dus kruiselings verzoeken kunnen plaatsen. En het zou dan ook logisch zijn dat een dergelijke lijst op Commons zelf komt, en niet op de taalgebonden wiki's. Wie weet of er al zo iets bestaat, of dat er sprake van is? Wie helpt mee met het beschrijven van oude gravures?

Frederik Hendrik stuurde een Vlaamse schilder, Anselmus van Hulle, naar de onderhandelingen voor de Vrede van Münster (1648) voor individuele karakterportretten van alle aanwezige bobo's. In gravurevorm door Pieter de Jode (II) en andere grootheden werden deze portretten populair in vaak herdrukte boeken in de zeventiende en achttiende eeuw. (Voorbeeld: File:Anselmus-van-Hulle-Hommes-illustres MG 0431.tif - wel gedaan - waar ze zelf niet blij mee was, denk ik. Haar schilderijen lijken altijd geflatteerd.) Het Vredespaleis schonk in 2014 133 van deze fantastische portretten à 50 MB waarvan ik maar een fractie - de eerste rijen en aan het eind - heb kunnen beschrijven (wel bron en zo), zie Category:Prints from Van Hulle Hommes illustres 1717 at the Peace Palace Library. En dus ook maar een deel afdoende gecategoriseerd, in hun wikipedia-artikel gezet heb en graveur geïdentificeerd ("sculpsit" onderaan gravure)...

  • Wie helpt deze edellieden te identificeren met de Latijnse onderschriften en soms hun smoelwerk? Enzovoorts...

Het is leuk speurwerk, maar kost tijd. Soms is het oppassen geblazen, omdat er meer potentaten met (bijna) dezelfde naam rondliepen rond 1647-1648, ook heten deze Europeanen op verschillende taalwiki's soms net iets anders...

Geen of onjuiste vermelding auteur en licentie

Als leverancier van Commons maak ik regelmatig mee dat ik ingebrachte foto's in de media terug zie zonder of met een onjuiste bronvermelding. Na daar diverse malen 'zacht' op te hebben gewezen zag ik laatst ROC Leiden Level.JPG terug op de voorpagina van een lokaal blad met vermelding 'bron:PR'. Nu heb ik om wat meer indruk te maken € 100 vergoeding gevraagd en gekregen. Het bedrag is inmiddels overgemaakt aan de Vereniging Wikimedia Nederland. Regards, Bic (talk) 10:17, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Onjuiste auteur onder de aandacht brengen, hoe?

De foto-montage "File:Ile des Cygnes and St Christophe Church.jpg" bestaat uit twee foto's die niet door de maker van de montage zijn gemaakt. Toch staat de maker van de montage er als auteur met bron "eigen werk". Ik heb hierover een opmerking gemaakt op de OP van de foto. Is dit de correcte wijze dit onder de aandacht te brengen, of is daar een sjabloon voor? --FredTC (talk) 15:48, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

File:Ile des Cygnes and St Christophe Church.jpg. Fotomontages a la prentbriefkaart staan regelmatig op wikimedia commons, bijvoorbeeld File:Montagem RJ.jpg. Daar zijn foto's van Commons samengevoegd, die als bron vermeld worden, klaar. Hier hebben we volgens jou File:Lîle aux Cygnes 3, Paris 20 janvier 2013.jpg + File:Église Saint-Christophe-de-Javel 4.jpg. Dus de uploader (of jij) kan de verantwoording zo repareren, vraag anders om verwijdering, even zoeken op Commons:Deletion. Groeten, Hansmuller (talk) 09:55, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Stewards confirmation rules

Hello, I made a proposal on Meta to change the rules for the steward confirmations. Currently consensus to remove is required for a steward to lose his status, however I think it's fairer to the community if every steward needed the consensus to keep. Internal error: the token is incorrect

I was trying to upload a SVG image that I created with Inkscape, at the Special:UploadWizard. The upload failed and produced the message: "Internal error: the token is incorrect" (in Dutch: Interne fout: het token klopt niet.). Is this an error caused by the file or an error caused by Commons Wikimedia ? Is there anything I can do about this ? Regards, --OSeveno (talk) 15:02, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Inmiddels heb ik het verholpen: Ik heb de Inkscape SVG opnieuw opgeslagen als Optimized (Inkscape) SVG. Na het verversen van de browsercache lukt de upload nu wel. Ook http://validator.w3.org/check meldt nu dat het een "Valid" SVG bestand is. Het probleem zal dus waarschijnlijk in Inkscape hebben gelegen. --OSeveno (talk) 17:08, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Is gebruik van deze afbeeldingen toegestaan op Commons Wikimedia ? Zo ja, onder welke licentie ?

Er staat niet dat de foto vrij gebruikt mag worden. Ik zocht een 'vrije' portretfoto om bij het Wikipedia artikel over Carlos de Bourbon de Parme te plaatsen. Had ik misschien beter meteen erbij kunnen vermelden. Overigens interpreteer ik de tekst op https://www.kb.nl/auteursrecht enigszins anders, maar omdat dit off-topic is laat ik dat hier verder buiten beschouwing. De kern is volgens mij dat de opmerking over naamsvermelding inzake die foto te beperkt is om te kunnen interpreteren als zoiets als CC-BY. Dat moet expliciet worden vermeld. Veel fotografen zijn niet goed op de hoogte van wat ze moeten doen als ze iets op een bruikbare wijze willen vrijgeven. Creative Commons ? Hebben ze vaak nog nooit van gehoord. Mijn vraag is beantwoord: die foto's kunnen op Wikimedia niet worden gebruikt. Geeft niks, er komt vast ooit wel iets voorbij dat wél mag worden gebruikt. Bedankt voor je hulp. Ah ok, heb even gezocht en kom alleen zijn kinderjaren tegen dat te gebruiken is. Wat betreft deze foto, er moet minimaal staan dat de foto rechtenvrij te gebruiken is. En inderdaad CC-BY etc is voor veel fotografen onbekend. Je zou deze fotograaf kunnen vragen om toestemming via OTRS-procedure, maar simpeler, vragen om de foto op Flickr te plaatsen met CC-BY aangekruisd (als ie dat goed vindt uiteraard). --Hannolans (talk) 22:18, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC)
The Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) makes recommendations about how to allocate Wikimedia movement funds to eligible entities. There are five positions being filled. More information about this role can be found at the FDC elections page.

Funds Dissemination Committee (FDC) Ombud
The FDC Ombud receives complaints and feedback about the FDC process, investigates complaints at the request of the Board of Trustees, and summarizes the investigations and feedback for the Board of Trustees on an annual basis. One position is being filled. More information about this role can be found at the FDC Ombudsperson elections page.

The candidacy submission phase lasts from 00:00 UTC April 20 to 23:59 UTC May 5 for the Board and from 00:00 UTCApril 20 to 23:59 UTC April 30 for the FDC and FDC Ombudsperson. Templates related to the Netherlands

Ik heb sjablonen die er nog niet onder stonden maar met Nederland te maken hebben zoveel mogelijk toegevoegd aan https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Templates_related_to_the_Netherlands. Ondermeer sjablonen van Nederlandse GLAM-instituten en beeldbank venw. Er waren er drie die ik niet kon toevoegen omdat ze beveiligd zijn, waaronder FoP-Nederland. Wellicht dat iemand die de rechten heeft dat kan doen? Op deze manier zijn alle sjablonen die van toepassing kunnen zijn bij content uit Nederland bijelkaar te vinden. --Hannolans (talk) 20:15, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Veel sjablonen hebben een aparte, onbeveiligde subpagina voor documentatie en categorieën; zo ook Template:FoP-Nederland. Categorieën die op zo'n pagina tussen ‎<includeonly>...‎</includeonly> staan categoriseren het sjabloon zelf. Met deze methode zijn geen administratorrechten nodig voor veranderingen aan documentatie, categorieën en interwiki's van een beveiligd sjabloon. SiBr4 (talk) 20:35, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Die hebben de categorieën inderdaad op de sjabloonpagina staan. Je kunt een edit request op de sjabloonoverlegpagina plaatsen, al duurt het op deze wiki soms enkele maanden voordat ze worden beantwoord. Pywikibot compat will no longer be supported - Please migrate to pywikibot core

Pywikibot (then "Pywikipediabot") was started back in 2002. In 2007 a new branch (formerly known as "rewrite", now called "core") was started from scratch using the MediaWiki API. The developers of Pywikibot have decided to stop supporting the compat version of Pywikibot due to bad performance and architectural errors that make it hard to update, compared to core. If you are using pywikibot compat it is likely your code will break due to upcoming MediaWiki API changes (e.g. T101524). It is highly recommended you migrate to the core framework. There is a migration guide, and please contact us if you have any problem.

There is an upcoming MediaWiki API breaking change that compat will not be updated for. If your bot's name is in this list, your bot will most likely break.

Melding mogelijke fout

Sorry, ik weet niet goed hoe of waar dit probleem, in het Engels, te melden. Op hoofdpagina's met ondercategoriën is de onderste ondercategorie vaak niet "aanklikbaar". Voorbeeld: op de pagina "Category:Commons" is de laatste keuze "Commons users" niet oproepbaar door aan te klikken. Heb vandaag gekeken of dit bij mij ook gebeurt, echter dat is niet het geval. (met Firefox) Alles is bij mij goed aanklikbaar. De bug kan inmiddels verholpen zijn, of het ligt aan de gebruikte webbrowser, het gebruik van een filter zoals AdBlock Plus (probeer ABP op de bewuste pagina uit te schakelen of op geheel Commons), of er speelt een ander probleem op jouw computer. Naturalis - wachten op persistent links?

Naturalis Biodiversity Center wil met mij duizenden afbeeldingen gaan opladen naar Commons. Probleempje: ze zijn bezig met de overgang naar persistent links (permalinks) deze zomer en willen dat alleen de toekomstige permalink bij afbeeldingen vermeld gaat worden, dus niet meer deze bijvoorbeeld. Dat kan betekenen dat er (voorlopig) veel gebroken links (en foutmeldingen?) komen.

  • Is dit acceptabel?

HTTPS


Hi everyone.

Over the last few years, the Wikimedia Foundation has been working towards enabling HTTPS by default for all users, including unregistered ones, for better privacy and security for both readers and editors. This has taken a long time, as there were different aspects to take into account. Our servers haven't been ready to handle it. The Wikimedia Foundation has had to balance sometimes conflicting goals.

Forced HTTPS has just been implemented on all Wikimedia projects. Some of you might already be aware of this, as a few Wikipedia language versions were converted to HTTPS last week and the then affected communities were notified.

Most of Wikimedia editors shouldn't be affected at all. If you edit as registered user, you've probably already had to log in through HTTPS. We'll keep an eye on this to make sure everything is working as it should. Do get in touch with us if you have any problems after this change or contact me if you have any other questions.

Hulp gevraagd: Foto met toestemming

Weet niet goed waar en hoe ik dit op Commons moet aankaarten. Op NL Wikipedia staat een artikel over de geëxecuteerde verzetsman nl:Gerrit Willem Kastein. Omdat er geen foto bij staat heb ik gezocht of ik een rechtenvrije foto kon vinden. Die kon ik helaas niet vinden op het Internet. Daarom heb ik de auteur van het boek "Verzetsman Gerrit Kastein; 1910-1943" per e-mail verzocht of hij er één beschikbaar wil stellen, dan wel rechthebbenden verzoeken om er één af te staan onder de CC-BY-SA 4.0 licentie. Hij heeft mij nu een foto gestuurd met toestemming om die te gebruiken. De foto stond in zijn boek en dateert van de zomer van 1942 (Kastein is in februari 1943 geëxecuteerd). Is het nodig dat ik vóór de foto wordt geüpload eerst de e-mail correspondentie aan Commons overdraag als bewijs en hoe kan ik dat doen ? There is a proposal at the Commons Village Pump requesting feedback about the thumbnails of static GIF images: It states that static GIF files should have their thumbnails created in PNG. The advantages of PNG over GIF would be visible especially with GIF images using an alpha channel. (compare the thumbnails on the side)

Commons presentatie 19 september

Hallo allemaal,

Namens de Nederlandstalige werkgroep Wiki Loves Monuments ben ik op zoek naar iemand die op 19 september een presentatie wil geven over Commons (en een beetje over WLM) in Hilversum. Het gaat dan met name over een stukje basis auteursrechten en de werking van Commons, hoe upload je een foto.

We organiseren die dag samen met het Dudokmuseum een activiteit, waarbij ook een fotograaf uitleg zal geven over het nemen van goede foto's van monumenten. Ik zal je helpen met het vormgeven van de presentatie, mocht je hier hulp bij willen. Schroom niet en stuur me een mailtje voor vragen en bij interesse!
Je reiskosten naar en van Hilversum worden vergoed vanuit ons budget, verder is je tijd op vrijwillige basis.

Categorieën aanmaken veranderd?

Als ik de laatste dagen een nieuwe categorie aanmaak, wordt deze niet actief: de afbeelding vanwaaruit de nieuwe cat. wordt gestart blijkt er niet in te staan, ook wordt de nieuwe cat. niet zichtbaar in de bovencat. waarin hij geplaatst is. Voorbeeld:

Community Wishlist Survey

Hi everyone! Apologies for posting in English. Translations are very welcome.

The Community Tech team at the Wikimedia Foundation is focused on building improved curation and moderation tools for experienced Wikimedia contributors. We're now starting a Community Wishlist Survey to find the most useful projects that we can work on.

For phase 1 of the survey, we're inviting all active contributors to submit brief proposals, explaining the project that you'd like us to work on, and why it's important. Phase 1 will last for 2 weeks. In phase 2, we'll ask you to vote on the proposals. Afterwards, we'll analyze the top 10 proposals and create a prioritized wishlist.

While most of this process will be conducted in English, we're inviting people from any Wikimedia wiki to submit proposals. We'll also invite volunteer translators to help translate proposals into English.

Your proposal should include: the problem that you want to solve, who would benefit, and a proposed solution, if you have one. You can submit your proposal on the Community Wishlist Survey page, using the entry field and the big blue button. We will be accepting proposals for 2 weeks, ending on November 23.

We're looking forward to hearing your ideas!

If you want to carefully review nearly a thousand applications in January, you might be a perfect committee member. Otherwise, you can volunteer as "ambassador": you will observe all the committee activities, ensure that people from your language or project manage to apply for a scholarship, translate scholarship applications written in your language to English and so on. Ambassadors are allowed to ask for a scholarship, unlike committee members.

This is to inform all Wikimedia contributors that a straw poll seeking your involvement has just been started on Meta-Wiki.

As some of your might be aware, a small group of Wikimedia volunteers have proposed a banner campaign informing Wikipedia readers about the urgent situation of our fellow Wikipedian, open source software developer and Creative Commons activist, Bassel Khartabil. An exemplary banner and an explanatory page have now been prepared, and translated into about half a dozen languages by volunteer translators.

We are seeking your involvement to decide if the global Wikimedia community approves starting a banner campaign asking Wikipedia readers to call on the Syrian government to release Bassel from prison. We understand that a campaign like this would be unprecedented in Wikipedia's history, which is why we're seeking the widest possible consensus among the community.

Given Bassel's urgent situation and the resulting tight schedule, we ask everyone to get involved with the poll and the discussion to the widest possible extent, and to promote it among your communities as soon as possible.

Ik vraag dit omdat ik dat wel eens heb geprobeerd, maar achteraf het gevoel had dat ik dit niet goed genoeg had kunnen voorbereiden. Hoe moet je bijvoorbeeld met een communicatiemedewerker van een organisatie omgaan ? Wat is een goede strategie ? Ik mis tips en voorbeelden of een stappenplan o.i.d. We vragen op meta commentaar om de regels voor paswoorden strenger te maken voor gebruikers die MediaWiki:Common.js kunnen bewerken, of toegang hebben tot checkuser of Oversight.

Deze soorten accounts hebben toegang tot speciale delen van onze websites en kunnen veel problemen vormen wanneer ze in verkeerde handen vallen. Op dit moment moet een paswoord slechts 1 teken lang zijn. We willen de minimumlengte van een paswoord 8 tekens (bytes) maken, en eenvoudige of voorspelbare paswoorden afkeuren.

Door paswoorden aan meer regels te laten voldoen voor belangrijke accounts, hopen we Wikimedia wikis veiliger te maken voor iedereen. Lees het volledige voorstel hier, en laat je stem horen door te reageren.
