I'm not majorly familiar with copyright stuff, however, the image is of the school and is taken from the schools website. Doesn't that qualify as a federal government entity? Dusti*poke* 06:17, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I don't think the school is own by an federal organization, but rather then the town or county. So, sorry this is not looking like a work made by an employee on uty of a federal agency. regards --JuTa 18:02, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Schools are actually government property. Dusti*poke* 22:28, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Uploaded Shinjin RC420TP Picture

Hello,

I cannot find in reference to respond your message at my talk section. Instead, I am posting this here.

I have questions about this Shinjin RC420TP picture that I found at the Internet that I have it posted in Wikimedia Common page here.

First, the image file was a snapshot by someone from South Korea by unknown author. But I do know that it is from the ancestor of Daewoo Bus Coroporation. This was an advertisement that was made in 1971 from South Korea. Isn't this fall under Public Domain advertisement from South Korea? Which Copyright tag should I use for this?

If this doesn't work, should I contact the company explaining about this picture that I have found at the Internet and find out how this should be handled?

Please advise. Thank you.

Rjluna2 (talk) 01:58, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi according Commons:Copyright_rules_by_territory#South_Korea in South-Korea fotos are copyrighted for 50 years after the ath of the author. A Foto made in 1971 is minimum protcted until 2022 or much longer depending of the live-dates of the author. I'm sorry but I don't see a valid license for this image. regards --JuTa 10:18, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Removing restrictions

Hey, why do not you let Mr. image علی محمد سجادی is OK? This is a university professor and has lectured at a place and have a picture taken. Please fix the restrictions. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.179.164.152 (talk • contribs) 2013-08-04T16:29:41‎ (UTC)

No, you removed the problem tag twice without any explantion. I can't find any statement of {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} on the source page http://www.ibna.ir/vdcgzx93.ak9zy4prra.html. Please contact the fotografer and ask him if he is willing to publish this image under this license. If he agrees he has to send an email to the commons support team - see Commons:OTRS. regards. --JuTa 16:35, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi JuTa, you tagged this image with {{No permission}}. If this was done in concern of the photograph being a derived work of the depicted sculpture, I would suggest to open a deletion request for it. We have no section for Tanzania yet at COM:FOP and a discussion is probably the best approach to discuss this. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 16:09, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Well, my first concern was not the possibly missing FOP in Zanzibar, but that the foto was not self taken by the uploader. But feel free to convert it yourself. --JuTa 16:13, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
How do you come to the conclusion that this photograph was not taken by the uploader? Please notice this. All uploads by Mbz1 were re-attributed this way. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 18:04, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Well, weblinkes in the source or author field indicating normaly: "grabbed from the web". For me it was not clear that this is realy own work. But you are right, all images of him/her are attributed that way. I'll remove the problem tag now and st {{FoP-unknown}} (for now). --JuTa 19:06, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, she is one of the most outstanding photographers Commons ever had with more than 100 featured pictures. Her speciality are photographs of atmospheric optical phenomena, see for example the pictures at green flash or Fata Morgana. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 21:16, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Thoriq Dhiyaan Azka Rahmat (talk) 14:18, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure about which image(s) you talking about. But you cannot just copy images out if the imternet and release the under a cc-by-sa license, because you are not the copyright owner. You need to find and ask them before upload if they ar willing to pulish their fotos under a free license. Afterwards they have to snd a confirmation mail to the commons support team - see Commons:OTRS. PS: I marked the 4 new uploads of yours as "no permission". regards. --JuTa 18:58, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

article in Russian about Mikhail Sergeev (Сергеев, Михаил Юрьевич)

Dear JuTa,

You deleted the photograph of Сергеев, Михаил Юрьевич in the article at: http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A1%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B3%D0%B5%D0%B5%D0%B2,_%D0%9C%D0%B8%D1%85%D0%B0%D0%B8%D0%BB_%D0%AE%D1%80%D1%8C%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%B8%D1%87

The photograph's filename was File:Михаил_Сергеев.jpg

What do I need to do in order to have this photograph appear in Wikipedia again so I can use it in the article? I have permission from the author, and I thought that I uploaded it along with the photo. I thought that it was enough, and I was caught by surprise when the photo removed. I want you to know that I do have the permission and am not a copyright violator. I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

Андрей Строков

Hi, there was no license template included - see Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. But as it look you didn't took this foto yourself, you would need to ask the fotografer (Виктор Велин?) if he is willing to release this foto under a free license - {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded. After that th fotografer has to send an email to the commons support team documenting this - see Commons:OTRS. If everything checks out OK thy will undelete the image for you. regards --JuTa 15:24, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello, JuTa, Is permissions-commons@wikimedia.org the commons support team's e-mail? I have a letter from the author of the photograph saying that he is willing to release the photograph under a free license. Should I or the author of the photograph send this letter to the commons support team? --Андрей Строков
Hi, yes thats the correct mail address. Its better the author himself sends the mail. regards --JuTa 17:49, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi, the author (Victor Velin) wrote to me that he did send his permission letter along with the photo. Please check this out and let me know if you need more information. Thank you.
Hi, I cannot check that mail, but I now have temporarily undeleted the file an marked it with {{OTRS pending}}. regards. --JuTa 18:06, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi JuTa,

File:Xymox (Original Lineup).jpg is from a record label press kit released into the public domain. I noticed other band pages incorporate press release photos into the article. What is the precedent for addressing your license concerns for this file? The record label is still around although the image was taken 30 years ago.

Hi, I saw your changes on the file description and talk page. Its good that you trying to get and documnt the permission of the image. But we have a different way installed - see Commons:OTRS. The copyright holder has to send an email to the commons support team naming the images and the license they wish to publish them under. And be aware a release for wikipedia only is not enough. Anybody in the world has to be able to reuse the images for any purpose (including commrcial usages). Could you please request speedy deletion of File:4AD copyright license permission for "Clan of Xymox" photos.PNG yourself, because that is a snapshot of private mail correspondense and should not b published in the internet. You can forward the mail to the OTRS team, but don't put private conversations visible for anybody as Commons image.
PS: I marked 2 of your other uploads as "no permission", because thy have th same problem. Please try to follow the instruction outof Commons:OTRS. Thx. --JuTa 19:20, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi JuTa, I'm not as savvy as you at using wikipedia. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. The image is a scan from a 4AD press kit, I got email permission from the company's PR unit itself granting permission to use it here (I'm honestly blown away they responded to me). I only made an image file out of the email as proof for you. What is the email address of the person 4AD is supposed to send an email to? Please let me know what exactly needs to be done, in as simple steps as possible. Thank you.
Hi, its all describded in Commons:OTRS. The email adress is: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. The text they should send you find at Commons:OTRS#Declaration of consent for all enquiries. regards. --JuTa 20:13, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Please don't delete the file yet because I am linking to it in my email to the copyright owner.
You have one week starting from 03.08. As soon you know the permission mail was sent, you could replace the problem tag with the template {{OTRS pending}}, which will prevent deletion normaly for a month or untilthe OTRS case has been closd as valid or invalid. regards. --JuTa 20:25, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
One more question, is the copyright owner supposed to fill out the template and sent it to *me*, then I forward it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org? Or does the copyright owner fill it out and send it directly to *them*? That is not altogether apparent to me on that OTRS page... Also, for file "File:Xymox_Reunion_Citation.PNG", which you also flagged: This is a screenshot of a public chat on social media taken by myself. The point of me screenshotting it was to cite the text of it in an article. What is the standard procedure when a celebrity makes public comments on a social media page? How does one cite that? Screenshotting it and saving it as an image seemed the most logical thing to me.
They should send it directly, because forwarded mail could be faked and ar not realy trusted by OTRS. For the second point: Make a footnote and link to the webpage - see en:Help:Footnotes for the english wikipedia. regards. --JuTa 20:45, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
It's a facebook page, so linking to it requires the linkee to log in. Is that ok? Also, what if the commenter later deletes the comment?
Then its not a good source, try to find a better on. Or you could try to archive it through http://archive.org/index.php. But I dont have expierence with that. regards --JuTa 21:03, 5 August 2013 (UTC)
I can't think of any better source than straight from the horse's mouth. What would be a better source? I think I'm just going to host the image elsewhere, and maintain the citation.

This is weird

I clearly remember licensing my photos correctly. Well, I'll see to it. Good bye. Alhen .::··¨ 12:23, 7 August 2013 (UTC) (psst, template wasn't necessary. Besides, I hate them.)

Well, I had to notify you otherwise you wouldn't have noticed the missing license. regards --JuTa 19:25, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Hallo JuTa. --Leyo 21:00, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Hmm, sicher? Dann entferne as "no permission" oder lösche als "Wunsch des Hochladers". --JuTa 21:04, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
„calculée d'après …“ ist IMO ziemlich eindeutig. Es gibt übrigens noch etliche solche Grafiken. --Leyo 21:12, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Stimmt, mein schlechtes französisch war auch mal besser. Ich hab' den problem Tag entfernt. Gruß --JuTa 21:15, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I saw that you deleted the file I had uploaded because it had no OTRS permission. I don't understand why, since I had contacted the author, received a positive reply with the correct e-mail model and forwarded it to permissions-commons-pt@wikimedia.org (since both me and the author speak Portuguese). I followed all the 3 steps in here and my image got deleted anyway. Could you explain me why? Also, I was not informed that that file was going to be deleted, so I was really taken by surprise when it was. Thanks for your time. Mateussf (talk) 17:15, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mateussf, the reason is that images with template {{OTRS pending}} going automaticly into the corresponding subcategory of Category:Media missing permission after 30 days because its assumed if nothing happens more than a month with an open OTRS case it might never reached OTRS or was not valid. This makes them eligible for deletion 7 days after. I am not an OTRS volounteer and cannot check your mail. Please try to ask on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard, if you got a reply or ticket number back its normaly helpfull to note that as well. If it was just a forgotten but valid case they will undelete the file for you. regards. --JuTa 18:29, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

"Files:Colisiones en el LHC.jpg and HornoCuerpoNegroGif.gif"

Dear JuTa: First of all thank you for reviewing our contribution in [La Constante de Planck]. We are a university engineering group of Spain that aims to bring its work to improve the scientific part of Wikipedia. In the article of Wikipedia "La Constante de Planck", we have a conflict with two files: the file "Collisions at the LHC.jpg" that we no longer need it because we have found its equivalent in english (thanks a lot) and with the "HornoCuerpoNegroGif.gif" file. With respect to the file "HornoCuerpoNegroGif.gif" is an own work but has been blocked by an administrator because we have not detailed their editing permissions. We ask you the release of the "HornoCuerpoNegroGif.gif" file and then we will detail editing permissions. Waiting for your news. Many thanks in advance and best regards, --LFISUPM2013 (talk) 11:21, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I undeleted the file now but raised a regular deletion request for it. Its too similar to another 5 year old image uploaded by another user. regards. --JuTa 19:22, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Hi JuTa, forgive the delay but I'm on vacation and I access to the web on occasions. Thanks for their reply. Regarding the file "HornoCuerpoNegroGif.gif", their change seems minor but has enough interest as explained below. The old drawing is a stationary photo of the radiation inside the cavity at the end of the all process. Now with our animation, is observed the entire process on the inside of the black body to the influence of light on it. From the entrance of the light, through successive absorptions in the cavity, until completely absorbed. We believe that a cartoon in a physical process of difficult understanding, helps a lot. With the stationary picture not known what is the process that follows the light beam to impinge on the aforementioned cavity. It is worth making the animated picture. You can verify this. One way to incorporate it into the Wikimedia Commons data base would be modifying the old drawing and put the gif animated in its place. We have already tried to do so but is not possible to convert a jpg format to another animated gif type. For this reason we have not done so. In the old drawing, only is showed the end of the process and on the other hand, the new animation shows the entire process. Therefore, we request the incorporation of our animated Gif to the Commons database. Many thanks in advance. Regards, --LFISUPM2013 (talk) 17:48, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ju Ta.

I think I missed something with the deletion of this file.

I remember I wrote something like Keep. Symbol used around 1790 in France rallying the Vendéens during the "Guerres de Vendée" and you wrote Orphaned File talk page: content was: "{ {kept|2013-07-15|Commons:Deletion requests/File:Dieu et le roi.jpeg} }" (and the only contributor was "Fastily"). Can you access the history page to see if some one has deleted what I wrote or say that I'm loosing my mind ?

This symbol had no (c) and meant the faith to God and the King from anti-revolutionary people. It was made and sewn on the heart of partisans by themselves so each one was unique (no industrial work). This picture is a rare one of this symbol : I only found 2 websites ([1] and [2]) where we can see 2 different versions but how to guess wich one is the original and where it was taken. Fortunately there's another Commons's version of it. I'll try to find where this picture was taken and by whom but I guess it'll be quite difficult.

--Llann .\m/ (Lie 2 me ...) 01:41, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, its true: Fastily kept the image in the deletion request, but marked it directly after with "no license" and "no source". As I yesterday worked on the images marked so on 22.07. I deleted it. I will now temporärily undelete it and renew the problem tag to give you a chance to fix it. regards. --JuTa 10:11, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Ju Ta. I hope I'll have enough time to catch all the details needed. I contact now Franz53sda to ask him where he found that pic. I come back here when I have a reply.
The other user who upload the same version with another name did not replied yet. Still waiting.
--Llann .\m/ (Lie 2 me ...) 21:36, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
None can say where it was taken and where it comes from ... The second image has no source but ha a PD-old tag. You can delete it back, if you wat. Sorry ... --Llann .\m/ (Lie 2 me ...) 14:36, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Obrigado!

Hi, where I can read that license statement? The source link onl shows the image. Please give me a link. --JuTa 20:11, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
The image is from this link: ... I'm telling you, I do not know tell you about the license. But this site is from an official agency of the government of Angola (the Institute of Planning and Urban Management of Luanda - IPGUL in the portuguese acronym) and so is (very probably) a public domain!! --Countries (talk) 02:01, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Well on botton of the main page of this website http://www.ipgul.org/ you can read Todos os direitos reservados © Ipgul 2012 which is definitly not public domain. --JuTa 07:04, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
So what should I do to the image not being deleted? --Countries (talk) 17:52, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
The only thing is you could try is to find and contact the fotografer of the image and ask him if he is willing to publish the image under a free license - {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded. If he agrees he has to send an email to the commons support team - for details see Commons:OTRS. Once this is done you better put the template {{OTRS pending}} onto the description page, which will prevent deletion for about a month or until the OTRS case will be decided as valid or invalid. (Or ou could take your own foto - if you are nearby) regards. --JuTa 20:19, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I understand you deleted the image Esm_ms.jpg. You explained it y saying "There is no freedom of panorama in Slovenia." However, we own this building on the photo. My family has owned it for decades and we run business in it. Can you restore the deleted image? Thanks. Topjur01 (talk) 12:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi, its not a question who owns the building, but who was the architect of it. Do you know the name and livespan of the architect? If he died more than 70 years ago the building is not copyrighted anymore. If not the image has to stay deleted, unfortunatly. --JuTa 12:22, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for this explanation. I did not know that. Does this mean that most of the photos of new buildings need to be removed from the Wikipedia? Lets say these buildings:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Aussenansicht_red_bull_hangar-7_nacht.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wohn%26Atelierhaus_Lechner_Gartengescho%C3%9F1.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Yonkers_Main_Library.jpg

What about the photos that contain numerous buildings, do they need to be removed from Wiki if there is some new building among the buildings on the photo? Please help me understand this rule. Thanks. Topjur01 (talk) 18:48, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
That depends of the country of location - see Commons:Freedom of panorama. Laws are very different about so called "freedom of panorama" in various countries. And yes, we didn't catch all yet where it is not OK, but we are trying :) --JuTa 18:54, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
This is so interesting and very new for me. Thanks so much. Will check, however, if Slovenian laws are correctly understood.

Hello! I saw your editing on File:OGC LOGO.jpg. I was thinking if that file really has enough originality to require information on its copyright status. It should, perhaps, be marked with {{PD-textlogo}}. However, I am not sure if it meets the scope, as it may be seen as promotional. Any thoughts?—Teles «Talk to me˱M @ C S˲» 23:48, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Teles, yes that is a borderline case. Either it could be under the threshold of originality and it could be in or out of scope. If you like you can put {{PD-textlogo}} and {{Trademarked}} to it and remove the "no license" tag. regards. --JuTa 19:05, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

File licencing

Hi, I see you restored the file licencing at File:Army Training Booklet.jpg. I was waiting for assistance there as per User_talk:Diannaa#Assistance_requested. Did you read my comments on the image talk page? What is needed is for the image to have Crown Copyright licencing and a fair use rationale, both of which are in the page history as I tried to put them in. Would you have the time to sort that for me because when I try it the image automatically comes up with a deletion tag. I have discussed this with OTRS btw and they are aware AFAIK that the image licencing needs to be changed to CC while we wait for the go-ahead to use OGL from HMSO (TSO). SonofSetanta (talk)

Hi, I saw it. But I cannot find any edits of you on Dianaa's talk page. Well, Crown copyight redirect to speedy deletion {{Crown copyright}} and fair use is not allowed on commons - compare Commons:Fair use and i.e. en:Wikipedia:Fair use. I ust restored the original copyright tag and the {{OTRS pending}} one. Did you or the copyright holder ever sent out an email to the commons support team? Compare Commons:OTRS. --JuTa 13:08, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
