Sjabloon error, hulp

Hi Romaine, hier staat een sjabloon met twee keer Siegen-Wittgenstein ·- de eerste is een fout. Kun jij zien waar dar erbij komt, en dat corrigeren? Het sjabloon is erg rommelig, met veel redundant spul, (bij gebruik van |all=1 aan het einde komt het allemaal naar boiven, dit heb ik op meerdere plekken (in NRW) verwijderd) maar de preview bij het sjabloon toont wel correct, daarm weet ik niet waar ik de fout moet zoeken. Mits akkoord zou ik alle foutieve rommel met 'the Kreis ...' gewoon deleten, zodat het sjabloon ook sneller laadt, maar ik overzie de gevolgen niet. Vast bedankt. Hallo Peli, Er zijn blijkbaar wtee verschillende schrijfwijzes mogelijk om een kreis-categorie te maken. Alle twee die opties staan in dat sjabloon. Doordat alle twee de opties als pagina bestaan (de een als echte categorie, de ander als redirect) worden ze beide getoond. Mij zou het sowieso goed lijken als er overal maar één schrijfwijze werd gebruikt, dan zou de alternaieve schrijfwijze uit het sjabloon weg kunnen. Hi JoKalliauer, I am wondering how you ended up with asking me? It is funny that I uploaded this image File:Fileicon-svg.png in 2011 when I encountered issues. But to answer your question, no, I have no way to find damaged files. I can't remember; we had a tool or something years ago. Sorry, I do not know how to find them. Perhaps someone more technical can answer your question. It may be worth also to check the categories of Category:Pictures showing a librsvg bug. CentralNotice for Wiki Loves Earth

Hi Romaine! In previous years you were actively involved in setting up CentralNotice for Wiki Loves Earth in different countries. As we are roughly three weeks before the first contests start on 1 May, we will start working on CentralNotice requests, thus what is the best format for you if you will be involved in it? Each of the participating countries gets a CentralNotice banner. What I need to know is what texts they would like to have in the banner (available in all the common languages in that country + English). Like in 2017 (Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2017/CentralNotice) I will create the 2018 page for this likely later today at Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2018/CentralNotice. For new countries I also need to set up the upload wizard.

Unidentified subjects

Hoi Romaine, met Cat-a-lot ben ik bezig geweest om zoveel mogelijk foto's van het Nationaal Archief over te zetten naar Category:Unidentified subjects in Suriname from Nationaal Archief. Het bleek echter dat al een groot deel gecategoriseerd was en ook dat een deel niet per se over Suriname ging, maar over de Antillen. Ik heb dat nu grotendeels hersteld, maar met de tooltjes die ik daar voor heb, denk ik dat er nog wel een aantal onterecht in staat. Is het voor jou(w botje) veel werk om alle bestanden in Category:Unidentified subjects in Suriname from Nationaal Archief waar ook nog een andere categorie in staat (dus eigenlijk al gecategoriseerd zijn) uit die Unidentified-categorie te verwijderen? Als er alleen een categorie van de naam van de fotograaf in staat, kan hij er gerust in blijven staan. Ter info: de Category:Unidentified subjects in Suriname heb ik onlangs aangemaakt als extra optie om bij te dragen aan Wikimeets (Wikipedia goed Caribbean) en schrijfweken (planning september/oktober). Ik zie weleens dat mensen filmpjes die ze op Youtube kijken zomaar overzetten naar hier. Mag dat? Er rusten toch auteursrechten op? Laatst zag ik zelfs dat dit met een video van AAvisie uit Almelo e.o. is gedaan.

Ik zie deze opmerking toevallig, omdat ik vandaag ook een vraag stelde. Het antwoord op jouw vraag is dat het mag wanneer degene die het auteursrecht heeft het zelf vrij geeft op YouTube (bij Licentie staat dan "Creative Commons"). Hi Jmabel, It is not mine, I just promoted it. I do not know why it does not work any longer, but perhaps they are not doing maintenance or they changed to link to the old and is out of beta. @Rachmat04: Done - I have created the campaign. I think the template used should autotranslate so also people that do not speak Indonesian can read the template: Template:Wiki Cinta Budaya 2018. -> Done. Also the campaign adds manually a category, this should be done by the template. -> changed. Also this category should have as name Category:Images from Wiki Cinta Budaya 2018, in line with every contest category on Wikimedia Commons. -> Created. In this category all images are added. I think you are ready to use the campaign. You can test it to see how it goes. Creating a campaign

Hello Romaine! A volunteer is setting up a competition for images of dentists and dentistry. Would it be possible to set up a campaign to put images into Category:Wikipedia Collaboration of Dental Schools competition? The competition runs between 00:00, 20 September and 23:59 21 October. Hi Richard Nevell, Yes, that is possible. I do need more information to be able to do it. Like for example if there a template need to be included that the image took part in a competition (see for example WLM and other contests), what to do with the license(s), and some more information. Also I like to point out that photo competitions are usually using categories with the name starting with Category:Images from ... to distinguish them from topic categories (as all images need to be included in at least one topic category besides a contest category, as people search by topic for images). In the coming week Wiki Loves Monuments starts, so my main focus until about 2 September will be Wiki Loves Monuments, after that we can go through the steps to create a campaign and more for your local contest. Upload wizard problem (file description missing)

Unfortunately, there is a problem with the upload wizard. Many (but not all) of the campaigns display an empty page in the 'Describe' part of the Upload Wizard (4th step of the upload). This seems to be a bug. Here are a few examples:

• wlm-ru (fails)
• wlm-fr (fails)
• wle-ru (fails)
• wle-fr (works!)

Upload campaign for Wikivoyage banners

One more request from my side. You have likely read our today's conversation with Lodewijk on a separate upload campaign for Wikivoyage banners. Could you please create it for us? I would propose the name 'wlm-banners'.

The settings should be fairly simple. All we need is the separate field for the 'source image' (the image used to crop the banner from) and the automatically added category 'Category:Banners from Wiki Loves Monuments 2018'. The WLM template is not needed, we shall add it later (where needed) after manual review of the submissions.

Finally, this campaign should be open till October 31, because we invite the participants to crop the banner images also after the end of the regular WLM.

Hi Alexander, I created the special upload wizard for Wikivoyage banners. Uploading is possible through this link.

I have set the times for Wikivoyage banners contest from 1 September 00:00 UTC to 31 October 23:50 UTC.

Above the upload wizard this banner will be shown during the contest: Template:Upload campaign header wlm-banners - you can modify it and add translations as subpages if you wish.

If people enter the source image from which it has been extracted, the Template:Extracted from will be added to the file page. Due technical restrictions, the place of this template is not optimal and needs relocation on the file page with reviewing the banners.

The text shown above the field to enter the source image is defined here. Also this field can be translated, please let me know on my talk page which translations I can add.

Now, It feels like we are discussing. First of all, You replaced the link and you didn't bother to ask me first. I reverted you and notified you as a courtesy. But then, without asking any questions you reverted that again and posted the threat above (again, you explained you point of view and then you directly went on the threatening part (removing images)). I'm providing this year's cat link in our landing page (like you said it's not present in there and if you feel there should be one then I'll add it) but we'd like the link to stay where you changed it. We liked it there because it has nice gallery view at the same time has a upload button on it if the visitor's want to upload directly from there. Last time I check, there is not any rule on international contest to link the cat page on the local landing page. So it's not mandatory to add the cat page. Also, I'm not doing my job well? that's pretty much insulting. You threatened me above and now you are insulting me? (after edit conflict) @NahidSultan: We have received complaints/remarks of people that find it weird and confusing when linked to the gallery, as well as providing the wrong number of uploads. That is why I checked every landing page of every local competition on this issue and fixed it everywhere. Secondly, we consider linking to the overview page of where this year's participating images are as a default thing that everyone automatically does. If everyone is doing this, there is no reason to create extra bureaucracy by adding another rule. But yes, it is mandatory. Further, you indicate on the landing page "Uploaded images". This suggests that people can see there the images that have been uploaded as part of Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in Bangladesh, instead visitors go to a page where 97% of the photos are not of the current Wiki Loves Monuments Bangladesh contest. There are now 353 photos uploaded as part of the contest for Bangladesh, while there are 11 122 photos in the gallery, so less than 3% is of this year's photo contest. That is misleading for the participants. Also if someone uploads a photo, this person has a chance of 1 out of 353 to be chosen as winning photo, and not 1 out of 11 122 photos as the winning one as the gallery page suggests.

The first thing you did is reverting my edit, then you wrote something on my talk page. In the message you posted you provided zero explanation why. This is both not helpful if you intent to have a discussion.

If you make a spelling error, and I see it, I will fix it. Is that a threat? I don't think so. If A happens, B is the effect. And B is done as A is a problem. That is clarity. In the past days I have seen all the landing pages and some where not ready at a certain time, and then I indicated that it needs to be fixed otherwise there will be no banner.

You indicated you find it insulting that I said you are not doing your job well for this part. This was a reaction to "let us do our job", which is insulting to me as it suggests that I am not doing my job.

One other thing we are concerned about is the flow of the participants on landing pages and further. If the flow is not set up well, this usually leads to a lot of photos of monuments without identifiers added to the file pages. That is concerning as those unique identifiers make it possible to clearly determine which monument is on the photo, is part of the Monuments database and multiple tools work based on those identifiers. If those identifiers are missing, images are less usable, and those identifiers need to be added by hand. For that purpose it is also why it is avoided to link to the gallery page as the blue upload button there promotes too much uploading without monument identifiers, while those are highly needed. For Bangladesh you have nice tables with upload buttons that fill in the right information right away, while you still want to have a blue button that promotes uploading without this minimal required information. That is a leakage, and that is our job as international organisers to monitor that. Romaine (talk) 15:20, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

Photo identification

Hello, I think, that this image File:Ecomare - muiltje (pcd04057-muiltje-sd).jpg is not Crepidula fornicata. The real Crepidula fornicata looks like this: http://www.aphotomarine.com/images/marine_snails/marine_snail_crepidula_fornicata_04-03-15_3.jpg The image is from Ecomare project. I am not sure, but the image identification looked suspicious to me. Hi Snek01, Ecomare has indicated that this photo is from a Muiltje, a common species in the area. According to the Dutch Wikipedia article the scientific name is Crepidula fornicata. Looking myself at both photos, I see many similarities. Romaine (talk) 01:18, 1 October 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Liron, one of the two WLM organizers in Israel this year. After issuing a special request, we were granted 9 more days for the WLM campaign in our country. This means we started getting pictures on September 9 and will suspend the uploading option at the end of October 9. In the meanwhile, in 02:00 Israeli Time (30 minutes ago), the counter in our local site stopped working. Can you do something for keeping it going? Our technical manager, user:Ynhockey, is abroad, not reachable, and as far as I remember he has mentioned the counter function is an international-related thing. @Ldorfman: Your colleague organisers have indicated that the contest in Israel will run until 2018-10-08 20:59 UTC, with the time difference of 3 hours that is midnight at the end of 8 October, meaning that 8 October is the last day of uploading. (If this is 24 hours too early, please talk internally about it, because this is what your team has indicated.) This is how it has been set up in the infrastructure too. At this moment it is October in Israel, and if I test it, the upload infrastructure is still working as it should. There is a fallback mechanism in place that tells me if images have been uploaded through the dedicated upload wizard for Israeli monuments, but not in the present contest category, and such did not happen, meaning that after the upload of File:Ein gedi17.jpg no other file has been uploaded yet. Looking at the edits of the last couple of users uploading images, they stopped uploading at all since there last upload. If I look at the moment, there are 1101 images uploaded in the Israel contest. If I look on your website, I also see the number of 1101. Based on the matching numbers and all checks I just did, I have no indication that it is not working. The main reason why the number of images is not growing is because people did not upload more images. One thing I do not get, can you link to the page where I can find th "upload counter that shows the number uploaded from Israel in the list of countries page"? Hi again, after a discussion in our team, we would like the contest in Israel to end at the last minute of 2018-10-09, completing a full month, as we started at midnight (local time) between Sep 8 to 9. This means there are almost two days left now. We assume there was some misunderstanding at the time this issue was addressed to the organizers. Please make the needed adjustment wherever needed. Hi Ldorfman, Sorry for the delay. This morning I updated it on request of Ynhockey. Your message had gone lost in the 60+ new messages I received over the weekend on the wikis.
