Nederlands: Collectie / Archief : Fotocollectie Anefo Reportage / Serie : [ onbekend ] Reacties Geplaatst door Ingrid M.H. Evers op 19 november 2007 - 02:40. Mariamonument op het kruispunt van Stationstraat en Wilhelminasingel (Wyck). Burgerinitiatief, uitvloeisel van het Internationaal Mariacongres in 1947. Ontwerp: beeldhouwer Albert Termote: een zuil op een vierkant voetstuk, geflankeerd doorvier Maastrichtse bisschoppen: Servaas, Monulfus, Lambertus en Hubertus. Kosten ca. 80.000 gulden. Schroothandelaar Dotremont schonk ook hier het brons voor de beelden. Bisschop Lemmens wijdde het monument op 26 oktober 1952 in. Nog altijd een markant punt in de stad, al is de 'buitenring' ten offer gevallen aan het drukke verkeerscircuit ter plekke. |
