Linking to the official website might be in gray area, as cc-by-2.5 requires:

provide a link to the license

@JoKalliauer: I mean the link is sufficient for the copyright, because it's the same!? -- User: Perhelion 13:21, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Perhelion: I think the link is insufficient (but I'm not shure), because you have to name the license ( https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/ ), which is not done in this case.
Because the picture is close to PD, we link to the offical website and the author W3C won't critizise the usage as done here, therefore you might call it resolved. (But in my opinion link does not fullfill 4b of https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/legalcode , but I might be wrong. ).  — Johannes Kalliauer - Talk | Contributions 13:51, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bug: language set incorrectly if style=none[edit]

When this template is used like this: {{Valid SVG|style=none}}, the generated HTML looks like this:

<div dir="ltr" class="description {{{lang}}}" style="display:inline;" lang="{{{lang}}}">The <a href="/wiki/Help:SVG" title="Help:SVG">SVG</a> code is <span class="plainlinks" style="background:#CE8"><a rel="nofollow" class="external text" href="//validator.w3.org/check">valid</a></span>.</div>

The bug is that the literal string {{{lang}}} is included in the output, instead of a language code. This can cause display issues; for example, Firefox will switch from its normal font to its "Other Writing Systems" font. On my system, this means it switches from Liberation Sans to DejaVu Sans; I imagine the effect could be worse for users of non-Latin script languages. –IagoQnsi (talk) 02:02, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done I think I have fixed this issue, IagoQnsi. It was actually not in {{Valid SVG}}, but the internally used {{Created with/layout}} and therefore also present for a lot of other used templates. The bug had been introduced by last change before by TKsdik8900. — Speravir – 03:36, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possible bug notification of this Template generating DOCTYPE Declaration warnings[edit]

Please voice your thoughts at Template:Valid SVG creates a link to the Markup Validation Service (W3C Markup Validator) which seemingly always generates a DOCTYPE Declaration Warning (if a DOCTYPE declaration is included in a SVG), while using a slightly different base-URL for the same Service does not produce such Warnings. Many thanks, Vincent Mia Edie Verheyen (talk) 13:07, 11 July 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Thread has been archived long ago and is now archived under Commons:Graphics village pump/July 2018 #Template:Valid SVG creates a link to the Markup Validation Service (W3C Markup Validator), so section is resolved here. — Speravir – 23:14, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
