Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Depicts

@Jmabel, thanks. Is there a policy you can link me to regarding this? I was of the opinion that a road based on someone's name was not inappropriate but I'd like to read up for clarification. Hey man im josh (talk) 14:30, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

Not so much a policy as the simple meaning of the word "depicts". There are many other SDC properties, and one might be appropriate here, but "depicts" should be use only for what is depicted. Commons talk:Structured data would probably be the best place to inquire whether there is an appropriate property to use here. - Jmabel ! talk 17:44, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

@Jmabel, I guess I interpret depiction as including depictions of one's name. However, I noticed you're an admin on commons, so I'm confident you know best. Thanks for letting me know.

Since I'm focused on pictures related to the NFL WikiProject, I have a related question. Would I also select "no" for depictions if it was only a player's jersey? For instance, a display in the Hall of Fame with the person's jersey instead of a street sign which could represent a street, whereas the jersey would obviously be representing the person. The reason I asked for a policy is just to make sure I was going to be doing things correctly and not making more work for others. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:00, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

• Those do not depict the person. "Depicts" should really mean "depicts". Commons categories constitute a folksonomy and can have all sorts of relations to their content -- they are intended to guide humans to find relevant photos. Structured data properties are supposed to follow strict ontological rules: the property says what is the relation between the picture and the Wikidata item in question. In theory, at least, SDC should be usable by AI to draw inferences. - Jmabel ! talk 17:28, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
