Solar System Barycenter

[edit]

Dear Larry McNish, You have created a graphic file:Solar_System_Barycenter_2000-2050.png. Is the mathematical basis of this calculation? Was considered only the Jupiter planet and its orbit around the sun? Or which influences are also considered? --Con-struct (talk) 10:52, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My program calculated the 3-dimensional gravitational effects of the Sun and all the planets for every point, according to the formulas used by JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) including all the extended terms for the outer planets. More information, including an animation can be seen in my article at: https://calgary.rasc.ca/orbits.htm#barycenter — Preceding unsigned comment was added by an unspecified IP address (talk) 11:15, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the original diagram I put on Wikipedia had the Vernal Equinox to the left to match a previous (older) barycenter motion image that was widely available. I corrected this to the current standard of having the Vernal Equinox to the right for the diagram in my article. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by an unspecified IP address (talk) 11:22, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Is the simulation considering the movement on the plane of the ecliptic or on the fundamental plane of the solar system?

Are we viewing the simulation from the North of from the South? — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.81.81.194 (talk) 20:10, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
