Why did you upload the pictures twice? Why didn't you overwrite the picture? --Killarnee (T12) 14:09, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Killarnee: I didn't see how to since it was from a URL rather than through the Upload Wizard, sorry! --Librarian lena (talk) 14:17, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Module:Map[edit]

I'm going to try to do some work on Module:Map, to see whether I can get it to draw some fields from Wikidata.

I saw you added a function p.CalculateCornerLocations(frame) to the Sandbox version. Is this something you would like to stay in the module, going forward?

Thanks, Jheald (talk) 11:04, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing, @Jheald: . To be honest, I don't know if that should stay in the module. A few months ago I was trying to figure out how to do this exact same thing, which is why I was messing with the module, but I was in way over my head and had to abandon the effort. It's actually great news to me that you're working on this, because I'm about to upload map images that correspond to Wikidata items I created recently, and if I can lessen work for myself by drawing from them then that would be truly welcome. My main concern would just be not to lose the unique Map template functionalities like georeferencing, but I'm sure you've got the same thought and I would trust your judgment on what should be included. If there's any way I can help, please let me know. Thanks again, --Librarian lena (talk) 13:46, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm in the same boat, I think. Combined wikidata/commons map upload that needs to be got going as soon as possible. Initially I'm not going to be able to do much matching of values for places and items to Wikidata, so a lot of values will initially be going in there as somevalue object named as (P1932) <string>. I'm keen to get a dynamic version of the Map template up and running, so I don't need to keep re-writing Commons pages every time the Wikidata gets refined, eg a new tranche of strings get matched.
First thing though is to get existing functionality and links properly working, for existing data held on Commons. So that's where I'm going to start (or try to, anyway). But a certain amount of experimentation still to do, to get my head first into Lua, and then into Jarekt's code for the Artwork template.
Test page for a couple of my uploads at User:Jheald/BL18C/template tests, but let me know if there's more that's needing fixed, to add to the list. Jheald (talk) 14:03, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Jheald: are you planning to upload with Pattypan when you're done? And do you have a timeline? I have some map images ready to load that already have Wikidata items, if you need testing material. Thanks! --Librarian lena (talk) 17:40, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
