- Support While I would prefer a video that is less shaky, I think that this video has high educational value and is relatively rare to find with an open license and fairly good quality. There is sound included in the video. ↠Pine (✉) 02:29, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
- Support Yes, an elegant, captivating, and audibly eery take. I highly appreciate that the sequence continues until the whale's body has almost disappeared from sight with only its fluke driving it downward into the abyss. The residual jerky movements are IMHO unavoidable as the photographer is submerged and thus bar any foothold to stabilize himself and/or the camera. I thus agree with User:Pine about the relative rarity of underwater sequences and the correspondingly high educational value, especially in combination with these sounds taken, I assume, by hydrophone. More, please. -- Franz van Duns (talk) 13:18, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

- Strong support Not that long ago I mentioned that I love ultra-long film takes that last a whole minute or even far longer and thus give one a chance to look around at all the wayside details and slow movements one would otherwise miss. Well this is definitely to my liking. A dreamy flight into the top right corner of this particular Mandelbox, twisting and turning atween elongated alien structures and delving down into some twohundredfold or more magnified recesses. A magnificent, almost kaleidoscopic smooth transition to a subminiature ethereal world and back. My respect and admiration. I was thoroughly captivated throughout the whole 20+ minutes! -- Franz van Duns (talk) 13:03, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

- Comment I kind of think it would be better with the first shot cut out. The rest of it is reasonably smooth, but that first shot has a lot of jerky movements and doesn't seem essential, since the next shot goes in the opposite direction. — Rhododendrites talk | 13:24, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment Mmmh, maximum resolution is only at 720P, so it doesn't look great at full screen. Some of the movements are pretty abrupt. The way the different shots have been cut together seems a bit random to me. It ends before the background music is finished. --El Grafo (talk) 13:07, 14 October 2019 (UTC)

- weak oppose I'll start with the positives: 1. Camera on a tripod. One reason user-generated video is so far behind still images in terms of quality at Commons is (imho) that everyone seems to think they can just hand-hold it. 2. Sequence of the shots, starting with a wide environmental shot and getting successively more intimate with every following shot. 3. No audio is better than bad audio.
- Here's what I don't like: 1. no audio is a bummer. 2. the last shot is not composed very well with the marmot slowly making its way to the edge of the frame – the concept of en:lead room applies to video as well. I'd just skip that one and end with the one where it's taking a break. 3. colors are off, there seems quite a bit of a magenta cast. --El Grafo (talk) 07:39, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

- Weak support because it seems like good documentation of a notable building. Just personal opinion, but the combination of less-than-ideal light that day, slow movements, and slow music make for a not particularly exciting presentation, but perhaps when the subject is an old church, exciting is not necessary. :) — Rhododendrites talk | 13:57, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

- Support per others. To my, this was almost a recording of a sax and piano rendition of Pavane pour un infante défunte with the accompaniment of images of the church, but then it's great music and a very good interpretation, so that's fine with me. And the pace of the movement across and over different parts of the church makes it easier to absorb what you're seeing. I liked the fact that they eventually got around to showing the cruciform structure from above. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:00, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - Now that I'm seeing the English subtitles, I would say that there's one wrong word. "Dom" is not "Duomo" in English, unless the church is in Italy. The generic English word would be "cathedral". The subtitles should be changed accordingly, but most English-speakers will understand, anyway. And now that I realize the cathedral was torn down, I know the choice of music was most appropriate! -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:08, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose I like the idea, but even at 1/10 of the original speed, you can not really see the shutter curtains moving across the sensor. I find File:Appearance of the shutter at various speeds.gif or even the non-slo-mo File:Obturateur FM2.ogv much clearer. --El Grafo (talk) 13:21, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral - I think we could use more of this kind of video, so am reluctant to oppose, but I do agree with El Grafo that the slow-mo just makes me feel like I'm watching the same thing but a bit slower without revealing anything new (obviously it is the same thing but slower, but typically that makes it possible to see something significant otherwise invisible to the human eye). — Rhododendrites talk | 19:33, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

- This is a hard one for me. On one hand, this is the sort of thing I'd like to see us have more educational videos of. Slowing it down is a potentially helpful way to do that. With this one, I'm not sure how much I actually got out of it, though. It's more or less the same shot/same action for the duration, there's no explanation, and there's not much that becomes visible due to the slow motion that wasn't visible in the first couple seconds... — Rhododendrites talk | 13:22, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

- Info Monk parakeet nest in the gate to Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NYC. created/uploaded/nominated by — Rhododendrites talk | 22:58, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Support In the US, our only native parrots are extinct. At some point, however, monk parakeets were shipped from Argentina to New York for the pet trade, and some escaped. Over the years, they developed a few colonies around Brooklyn. Probably the best known is the one at Green-Wood Cemetery, because they chose to nest in its big, decorative gate. You can see the full gate, with the nest at the very top, in this photo. A little more info here. As for the video,
they get more active around the :20 mark[edited now]. Also, there's what looks to be some sort of [courtship?] move between the pair of parrots towards the left starting at :34. — Rhododendrites talk | 22:58, 8 October 2019 (UTC) - Support - I think that's courtship, too. This video is a little short, but it's interesting. I used to teach at Brooklyn College, where a bunch of these birds nest on the lights at the top of tall poles in the athletic fields I used to walk through. They're very chattery - not in any human language, though, just in their own. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:20, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

- Comment This is most definitely featurable, but what do people think about cutting this at :20? The information in the front text would really be better in the description, I think. In addition to including a typo, it also provides a big link to a company website, which isn't so good. - Question OK, why do you think this is better without the first 20 seconds or any music? And if the reason to cut the instructive text in the first 20 seconds was supposedly to add it to the description, why is most of it not added? I object. "Muonio, located in west Lapland, is directly under the aurora oval. Statistically we have auroras every second day." That is useful information. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:54, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - Also, it makes no sense to credit music that has been removed. It just disappoints the viewer, who wonders whether his/her equipment or connection is at fault. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:56, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
- Presumably Eatcha removed the music because of the separate copyright. Based on what I can find, the video itself is by an employee (or owner?) of the hotel which featured it (https://www.anttipietikainen.com/ lists an email address at harriniva.fi). The music, however, is Greg Baumont - Respire! (The Dervish), and I don't see any indication it is freely licensed. The end text is still there because it also credits the videographer/editor, and my impression is that removing in-media attribution is thorny business. Presumably it could be replaced with different text that doesn't credit the music? As for the beginning, my suggestion to remove it is that there's only a little bit of fundamentally useful information. The rest is about the hotel. For example, it says this was filmed in Finnish and Swedish Lapland, then talks about the particular town where the hotel is (which, after all, is in Lapland, but not Swedish Lapland). It's unclear this was filmed where the hotel is, so I take that information as "if you like this, come to our hotel, where you can see these every other day". — Rhododendrites talk | 14:18, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
- Rhododendrites and Ikan Kekek If both agree we can add a diffrent(pd/cc) free music, maybe from https://freepd.com/ or User:Eatcha/Free Music -- Eatcha (talk) 07:43, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

- Comment That's a very well made video, both from the technical side of things (resolution etc.) and content-wise (although the file name is a but misleading, as only a short section of the video is about the preparation of the tea). Two points: 1) I've never seen a cube-shaped sugar crystal. 2) Are you sure that you have read and understood the Terms and Conditions of mysimpleshow.com? - Comment - It's a breezy video and is educational in various ways, but I find the constant wiping across the screen somewhat off-putting. For the record, I'm a tea drinker and don't drink coffee, but the claims about tea vs. coffee in the video aren't substantiated with any statistics, so I consider them questionable unless some references are provided. I also find the pronunciations and voice somewhat grating. Sorry, I hope it's not something about my mood speaking. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:26, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - Sorry, I just have a hard time getting behind most SimpleShow videos. They are intended to be explainer videos, but I find that they usually don't add much, if anything, beyond the text itself. Often, in fact, they provide worse information than just the text itself because they try to cram complex concepts into generic clip art that, at best, doesn't add anything, and at worst is misleading. For example, "Mixture" here is represented by a kitchen stand mixer that I'm quite sure isn't used for mixing tea. The "more and more people have problems with caffeine" combines a group of happy people (?) with someone who looks to have depression or psychological problems? "Kluntjes" is represented by sugar cubes, but none of the images I see of them are cubes (this one could just be my ignorance, though)? "Better quality of life" is a stamp of the letter Q? "Strong tea" is a flexing bicep with a twinkle sound, and "three steps" is an image of three stairs. Beyond all of this, there are claims in here, such as those talking about how caffeine/coffee/tea do/don't affect people, that make the absence of sources here kind of problematic. I appreciate the intent, and relative to other SimpleShow videos this one is just fine, but I can't see featuring them. — Rhododendrites talk | 23:57, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

- Support - Very cool to watch. I like how one of the flukes really struggles to hatch, shaking the parent. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:59, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

- Question @Flukeman: it this real-time or some kind of time-lapse? --El Grafo (talk) 07:47, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- @El Grafo: . Yes, it is realtime. Video was taken using light microscopy. I added the sentence into description. "This real-time video was taken using light microscopy at magnification 40x". --Flukeman (talk) 10:53, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose Insufficient detail for me. If it weren't a common object that would be one thing, but some additional detail should be possible, based on the many other videos I see around the Internet. — Rhododendrites talk | 15:44, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Rhododendrites: looks pretty soft on a my 24″ screen even at the highest quality setting. --El Grafo (talk) 07:51, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose mainly because of the talking, length, and fence in the shot. — Rhododendrites talk | 16:06, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: I'll comment on the story of these animals, which is unrelated to this vote. Bison bonasus bonasus disappeared in Bulgaria during the Middle Ages, but since 2013, the introduction of these animals has begun in the Eastern Rhodopes. This year, for the first time in Bulgaria, little Bison bonasus bonasus was born outside the introduction fences.--Spasimir (talk) 16:11, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per Rhododendrites. Should be easy to just cut the first 1.5 seconds, and maybe also the last second where the video has stopped but the audio keeps playing. --El Grafo (talk) 08:15, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

- Support great educational value, but I would very much appreciate some additional context here. The documentation I see is questionable ("Female with laying sting, absent in males.") - presumably what's meant is ovipositor? Also, what's happening at e.g. 2:30? Captions would be very helpful. — Rhododendrites talk | 19:31, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - It's very good footage, but it's frustrating without any subtitles or narration. We don't know what they're eating, which ones are male or female, and it would also be helpful for them to be identified beyond the Latin name being given in the filename. Even the paucity of information in the relevant Wikipedia article would be welcome in this video. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:25, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

- Support Thanks for nominating. It is woefully short, though, so I don't know if it's FV worthy. We'll see. This woodcock seemed quite out of place in Bryant Park, a very busy city park in New York. It's uncommon to see a bird on the ground other than a pigeon or sparrow, since the park is much more for people than for wildlife (for birds, there's Central Park). So it was kind of a big deal among birdwatchers. You can hear a bunch of camera shutters around me while taking this short video. :) — Rhododendrites talk | 13:48, 12 October 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral Very nice, but a bit short. Christian Ferrer (talk) 14:58, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- Question - Undoubtedly a coup for you, in context, but might be too short for FV. Did the bird fly off right after the end of the video? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:46, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
