Discussion

Categories

Hi,

I want to ask, why changing categories might be "highly disputable" here. Is there a better tool for that? IMHO is AWB better for changing categories than the best other present tool Cat-a-lot.--Kozuch (talk) 12:30, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

AWB might be useful to for moving large number of images that pass some criteria to a new directory. I found AWB/Tools/List_Comparer a key tool in finding files to move. This tool allows you to intersect categories, recursive categories, wiki search results, and ~15 more options with each other in order to create list of files, to visit with AWB. Than AWB can add category to each file. This approach is useful for processing large number of files but due to set-up time is not very good for changing categories of few images. For that task Cat-a-lot or Hot Cat tools are much better. --Jarekt (talk) 21:35, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia vs. Commons

My AWB is set for Wikipedia. How do I set it for Commons? ZooFari 19:35, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't have it installed on this computer, but I just did it last night. I believe it is "Tools" > "Preferences" > and maybe... "Site"? But I know it is found in Tools, then preferences. Killiondude (talk) 20:48, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Close. Options -> Preferences (or ctrl+p) -> tab Site -> project Commons. --Martin H. (talk) 01:28, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Got it. I already made a couple hundred edits (since Cat-a-lot isn't functioning on my browser). Thanks in advanced, ZooFari 01:37, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Problem

Although I have been added to the list AWB tells me I'm not enabled. I'm using version 4.6.0.0. Can anyone help? --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 10:56, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

I reported this bug to developer. Kwj2772 (msg) 11:20, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Temporary(?) problems

AWB always says me im not logged in. I found w:en:Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser#Software Disabled?, only FYI if you have the same problem. --Martin H. (talk) 22:23, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Archiving this page

It seems that this page was archived just once in May of 2009. From what I can tell, requests now marked as ✓ Done, just sit for a few days and people blanked the section. Is that what we want to continue doing? It seems a bit silly to have an archive link above that wasn't used after it's creation. Killiondude (talk) 00:55, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't see any reason to have to archive processed requests TBH. –Juliancolton | Talk 03:26, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
When I archived back in 2008 (I wasn't the one who started it) I only archived this discussion section and any requests where discussion took place. I suggest we continue that so people can easily link to them if they want to. It's not a big deal any way since we got the history. Rocket000 (talk) 00:53, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
