lps (sox)[edit]
Hey Proton02
I recently acquired an lps lamp (phillips sox55) and I am looking for a ballast to get it the lamp working. Do you know anything about where to get these ballasts, whether HPS ballasts will work, how to make my own ballast, etc? I just want to get this lamp working.
- I use an electronic ballast designed for fluorescent lamps. For example you can drive a SOX 35 with an Osram Quicktronic QTP8 1x58, because the current through a 58 W fluorescent lamp is about the same as the operating current of SOX 35 (0.6 Ampere). Because the operating current of SOX 55 is equal to the operating current of SOX 35, you could try to use an electronic ballast designed for a 58 W linear fluorescent lamp to drive your SOX 55. As a SOX lamp has only two electrical connections but most electronic ballasts have four connections you have to connect the upper two und lower two connections of the ballast.
