Image notes[edit]
Hello, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons! Thank you for your contributions. I'd just like to point out that the information you added via image notes to several BBC logos is the kind of information that belongs in the file's description, not as a note on the image itself. Image notes are more for uses such as identifying individuals in an image, where an image note can target a specific area of the image that a simple description page cannot; see File:George W. Bush John Paul II funeral.jpg, for an example. They can also be used to identify buildings on maps, where text directly in the image is not feasible; identifying individual flower/animal/etc. species in a photograph featuring several; identifying different foods available in a photograph of an open market; identifying individual parts in an illustration of a mechanical object like a car motor; and so on. Images that only contain one subject, such as a logo, don't generally need image notes as information about the entire image/logo can go in the file description instead.
Thank you again for your contributions! If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to contact me via my talk page. Cheers! -- Editor at Large • talk 04:43, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
