User talk:85.182.126.61
Hello 85.182.126.61!
Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. 85.182.126.61 16:27, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, my anonymous friend! ;-) It should be mentioned, however, that I've not contributed anything to the Commons for over 18 months now. The image in question, in fact, was contributed over two years ago, and may or may not be particularly useful to users of Wikimedia projects now. Either way, some time has passed since I released that work into Creative Commons; thus, if you find it useful, the onus is upon you to use and/or categorise it, not me. (And if you don't find it useful, there is a process to remove the submission that you are also welcome to employ.) Because my release into Creative Commons means essentially I abandon my copyright to the work, I also absolve myself of the responsibility to categorise it. That I just happened to still be both living and reading the e-mail address connected to this account does not obligate me to responsibilities that burden me without the compensation of copyright. I don't mean to be rude, but that's it in a nutshell: You cannot call for submissions, and then further burden the submitters with tasks you can't be arsed to do yourself.
