Request permission to upload/edit

[edit]
Unblock request declined

This blocked user asked to be unblocked, but one or more administrators has reviewed and declined this request. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked. Other administrators can also review this block, but should not override the decision without discussion.

Request reason: "This is not explicitly an unblock request, but rather one to edit. For clarity: I was originally blocked on the English Wikipedia a /long/ time ago, and returned (as a sockpuppet) under the name X. I later revealed that I was a sockpuppet while editing from the Y alternate account, and was subsequently blocked. I am not CaliforniaHurricane, as clarified here (which verified that the initial block for socking as CaliforniaHurricane was invalid and I had not made additional socks - the listed accounts under "@all" were previously registered alternate accounts on other wikis), and never socked on Commons: that is to say, I was originally blocked on Wikipedia and all existing accounts remained on Commons, but none except Y were ever used to edit or upload following the initial block on en.wp. (The X account was blocked).

Technical details aside, here is the issue now: I was granted permission to re-register on the English Wikipedia following an appeal to the Ban Appeals Subcommittee on the English Wikipedia; I'll leave this up to judgment of local admins, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been unblocked there unless I had demonstrated a reason that I was trustworthy enough in my appeal. (I don't want to come across as pompous or snooty or anything; I just want to be clear about this fact.) However, the issue of blocks on other wikis was left alone. Now that I have re-registered on the English Wikipedia, however, I'd like to upload a track map of an article I'm working on; however, the issue of the outstanding blocks in June (again, for clarity, I had not "socked" on Commons: these accounts were created prior to my enwp block as alternates, and Jeffrey_Gu is /not/ me) still stands in the way of contributing to Commons.

As such, I wish to receive permission to edit on Commons for the purposes of uploading images, as mentioned above, and will adhere to policy as necessary and will contribute in a non-disruptive manner. If I were to behave disruptively, feel free to block me indefinitely. But here's the thing: I wouldn't, and as I have successfully appealed my initial block to the Ban Appeals Subcommittee successfully, I hope that trust can be placed in my actions once more.

Thanks,

I've blocked this new account for now until we get some details. User:X is still globally locked. Who on en.wiki said it was ok for you to edit under a new account there while your main account is still globally locked? INeverCry 06:43, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BASC (part of ArbCom) can do that, but unfortunately ArbCom has not given any official confirmation of this. --Rschen7754 08:17, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was told that BASC on en.wp would post a notice on their noticeboard about this; seems that they have not yet done so. I'll send a note over on IRC. Cloudchased (talk) 12:33, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I've received a response from a committee member on IRC about this, saying that "[t]he BASC log will be updated when our backlog is next cleared. Thanks for the prod – please let us know if the update doesn't happen in the next week." So, for the time being, please AGF (or contact a BASC member to confirm), be patient, and don't close this unblock request pending response. Cloudchased (talk) 21:30, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmation. Cloudchased (talk) 15:06, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There were some additional conditions (see here) and you had more sockpuppets. And when I see you were unlocked in February 2013, shortly after the initial lock... So I'm not sure we should unblock you here for now. Can't we wait a month or so to see how it goes on the English Wikipedia? Trijnsteltalk 14:57, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think waiting for a month or more to see how things go on en.wiki would be a good idea. Also, a sockmaster mentioning AGF made me chuckle. An email correspondence with Arbcom doesn't demonstrate trustworthiness; only productive editing for a period of time can do that, and even then you'll always be a bit suspect at best. INeverCry 18:46, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, I suppose that was what I should have expected... well, I guess another month or so of article-writing wouldn't do any harm before I destroy Commons, er, that is to say, do some work here. :p Feel free to close the appeal for now. Cloudchased (talk) 03:49, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you've been doing good work at en.wiki. I don't object to an unblock with the understanding that any problematic behavior would result in a quick re-block. I won't do the unblock myself without first getting the opinion of Trijnstel though. INeverCry 02:39, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm okay with an unblock as well. His work on the English Wikipedia looks good and it looks promising for us too. :-) Trijnsteltalk 11:42, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
