No license

Hi, Do not tag with "no license" files which do have a license. If the license is not valid, please create a deletion request with arguments. Thanks, Yann (talk) 08:35, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

You're absolutely right, that was a mistake on my part. I meant to tag the files with "no source" instead of "no license." Thanks for pointing it out! Waqar💬 08:57, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

Incorrect speedy deletion reason

Hello Iwaqarhashmi. It seems you have submitted J-Ser 1.png for speedy deletion because it was assumed to be a personal photo by an non-contributor. I have uploaded this photo because I am currently working on a Dutch article about artist J-Ser. I'm asking to remove this deletion request as I think it does not meet the criteria (CSD F10). It is no selfie nor low quality and it contributes to the article. Joumanist (talk) 10:48, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

@Joumanist The image was tagged for speedy deletion (CSD F10) because it appears to be a personal photo. Additionally, the article itself is being considered for deletion due to Wikipedia's Notability guidelines. If you believe J-Ser meets notability requirements, you can request undeletion of both the image and article by following Wikipedia's procedures. Waqar💬 14:33, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Hi, the article is currently under review, I have made some major changes after the initial deletion request. I find the instructions somewhat unclear as to where I can send such an undeletion request, though I would greatly appreciate some help with this as I'm fairly new to Wikipedia. As I mentioned before it is no personal photo and is not under any copyright, so the picture itself should be fine to use on Wikipedia. Joumanist (talk) 18:41, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
@Joumanist that's great that you've made significant changes to the article. I can definitely point you in the right direction. Wikipedia itself is quite helpful with these processes. If you head back to your talk page, there should be instructions specific to that file's deletion. These instructions will tell you exactly where to submit your undeletion request. In the meantime, if the image usage is relevant and adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines, that shouldn't be an issue during the undeletion process. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly! Autopatrol given

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 15:44, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

@Abzeronow thank you very much for granting me autopatrol rights! I appreciate your trust in my contributions and edits.
I understand that this doesn't affect my editing process, but it will definitely help streamline the review process for both myself and the patrollers. This allows them to focus on edits that might need more attention. I'm also excited about the additional features available to me, these will be very helpful for my future contributions.
Thanks again for this recognition! Waqar💬 15:49, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey,

I have received the speed deletion notification for my edit on Chandrashekhar Bandiyappa page. Can i please know the reason? Rakspraks (talk) 15:18, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

File:Bandiyappa 2.jpg was removed because it falls under CSD F10, which applies to personal photo uploaded by people who are not regular Wikipedia contributors. Waqar💬 15:26, 27 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey,

Hi, my name is Pedro, I'm a member of the Projeto Mais Teoria da História na Wiki. The images File:Foto Fátima 2024.jpg and File:Foto frente Fátima 2024.jpg have been flagged for deletion. I would like to clarify that the user uploaded these images because they will be used in the promotional artwork for the Mais Mulheres event. The user will be one of the organizers of the event. The event information can be accessed at this link. Could I advise her to upload them again, indicating the need to include this category? Pedro Henrique Batistella (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 18:51, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

I'd be glad to help Pedro, but I can't advise re-uploading the images without proper attribution (copyright considerations and acceptable licenses) according to Wikimedia Commons guidelines. By following these guidelines, your user can ensure that the images are properly attributed and licensed for use on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. Waqar💬 20:32, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Hi there, please stop flagging my own images for copyright issues. I took them myself attending the festivals as press. The images also have corresponding licensing models attached. The author is also attached properly. If there are any more issues, please let me know. Timlukask (talk) 20:34, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

So it was not you who took the photograph, it was taken in the Duma in Russia by a photographer whom I know, he gave the go-ahead for the use of this photograph from an article from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation https://kprf-ugra.ru/archives/24781 Umarochka (talk) 20:25, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Patroller!

Hi Iwaqarhashmi,

You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.

As you know already, the patrolling functionality is enabled for all edits, not just for new-page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edits made by anonymous users here on Commons.

We could use your help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by patrolling an Anonymous-edits checklist and checking a day-part.

If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage or ask for help on IRC in #wikimedia-commons.

Hi @Iwaqarhashmi. Thanks for the work that you do. However, when you come across selfies like this please don't tag them with {{No permission since}}. These can be CSD'ed normally under COM:CSD#F10 criteria of speedy deletions. Selfies uploaded by the one who's in the subject don't need VRT permission tags and similarly those files that are uploaded as own. If such files are not own, and there is a valid reason, those should be marked as copyright violation. Best regards, ─ Aafī (talk) 06:35, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

Absolutely! Thanks for clarifying this. I'll keep this in mind when reviewing uploads. Waqar💬 06:59, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

This is getting annoying.

Maybe if you hadn't deleted my User page, which I was in the middle of working on and lost all my hard work on, I'd have a place to put the photos I've uploaded. Please stop.

Karusamsu (talk) 16:10, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

I understand you're upset about losing your work, but user pages should be dedicated to contributions made to the encyclopedia itself, not personal storage. This is outlined in the policy WP:NOTWEBHOST. Best, Waqar💬 16:44, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

speedy noms

Hi. Please have a level of AGF when someone uploads an image and not within five minutes nominate it as a personal image for deletion. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:33, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Adding to what Billinghurst says, in general speedy deletions are for the obvious cases where it doesn't require a deletion discussion. So if the deletion reason isn't clear cut, a DR is always better. Abzeronow (talk) 00:51, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Understood. Waqar💬 07:41, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
