Changing CC licensing[edit]

Just so you know, CC licensing on Wikimedia is irrevocable. Once the image has been uploaded, you cannot legally revoke rights to the image that you have already granted to others. There is a disclaimer that says this every time you upload an image. Next time you upload an image somewhere on the internet, make sure to read all the disclaimers beforehand and consider your decision carefully. --Katolophyromai (talk) 04:03, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ "Wiki uploader" I Michael Nicht the copyright holder of this work, irrevocably grant anyone the right to use this work under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0 license (legal code). (Anyone may use, share or remix this work, as long as they credit me and share any derivative work under this license.) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/deed.en ---

"changed cc license from  cc-by-sa-4.0  to  cc-by-nc-nd-4.0"

What if I change my mind about using a CC license?

https://creativecommons.org/faq/#what-if-i-change-my-mind-about-using-a-cc-license As a licensor, you may stop distributing under the CC license at any time, but anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms. That means, as a copyright holder I have full right on my content and can change the cc license for my content anytime. But then I can’t stop anyone who is using my previous version of license unless they are violating the terms of the license.Michael Nicht (talk) 16:21, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Fact is once you upload content, it can be edited by people not being you. So everyone... could undo your edit and distribute the photo, again, under a CC BY-SA license (because this is not a personal webpage, but a collaborative one). I think that idea you mentioned is intended for personal webpages (where —as it is your webpage and only you can edit its content— you can cease or change anytime you want ...a license). this is a person (me) who has access to a copy of the material and may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms.
Even accepting only you were able to edit the content you distributed here (IMHO not true)... fact is people can still have access to copies of the material-formerly-distributed-by-you-under-a-CCBYSA, whether you mark now those photos with a cc-by-nc-nd... or not. Now simply "everyone". If they get deleted (that's a big if), just "administrators". Would you really want to waste people's time ...reuploading your pictures with another account, crediting you as author, and distributing them under CC BY-SA license again? Just give it a thought to see how absurd it would be. As said, next time "make sure to read all the disclaimers beforehand and consider your decision carefully".
Said that, Wikimedia Commons may offer a "courtesy deletion": Granted for a week, once that week since the 'uploading day' has passed... it's difficult to remove stuff from here, but if someone offers a compelling reason (filing a proper deletion request) ...they might get the photos deleted for good, who knows. @"...reuploading your pictures with another account, crediting you as author, and distributing them under CC BY-SA license again?"
Because of the behavior of some admins in enwiki, I have decide that I want to change the CC license to  cc-by-nc-nd-4.0 from now on (and on).
The photos are very few and maybe you don't need to reupload them. Wikimedia Commons have thousands of them.
If you decide to reupload, you have to follow the procedure you said before.
Delete them all, and I will not interfere again in the CHAOS and the misbehavior of enwiki and wiki in general.
Thank you, for your thoughts...Michael Nicht (talk) 23:59, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as I've already explained to you, deleting those images is very ...unlikely. Because here (Wikimedia Commons) we do have rules, and you getting annoyed in enwiki and deciding to change licenses after that ...is not a proper reason for deletion.
Look, I can sympathize with you: I had some wiki-quarrels with the wiki-person that you cannot discuss with in eswiki years ago too... some things never change. By the way, your photos are great. Strakhov (talk) 01:10, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ Túrelio I have signed this license: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/deed.en
"I Michael Nicht the copyright holder of this work, irrevocably grant anyone the right to use this work under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0 license (legal code).(Anyone may use, share or remix this work, as long as they credit me and share any derivative work under this license.)"

Wiki cannot "change the terms and conditions of any Creative Commons license,
you must no longer call, label, or describe the license as a “Creative Commons” or “CC” license,
nor can you use the Creative Commons logos, buttons, or other trademarks in connection with the modified license or your materials."
https://creativecommons.org/faq/#can-i-change-the-license-terms-or-conditions
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
So is my right to change or stop distributing under the CC license at any time.

"CC licenses are not revocable. You or someone else can"...reuploading my pictures with another account, crediting me as author, and distributing them under CC BY-SA license again"

Comment In what statement ""CC licenses are not revocable. Once something has been published under a CC license, licensees may continue using it according to the license terms for the duration of applicable copyright and similar rights.". You uploaded this images to a public site and you cannot change a license to a more restrictive one. There are three people saying the same. Wikimedia Commons is "anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms." Tm (talk) 17:30, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@ Tm three people can speak for their own interest...
Creative Commons license says:
is my right to change or stop distributing under the CC license at any time.
https://creativecommons.org/faq/#what-if-i-change-my-mind-about-using-a-cc-license
CC licenses are not revocable. Once something has been published under a CC license, licensees may continue using it according to the license terms for the duration of applicable copyright and similar rights. As a licensor, you may stop distributing under the CC license at any time, but anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms.
You or someone else can"...reuploading my pictures with another account, crediting me as author, and distributing them under CC BY-SA license again"
Michael Nicht (talk) 17:39, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Read again. The copies of your files are already on Commons, so "anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms" is already in effect. If you want you can not distribute your files under this license, but others (Wikimedia Commons) can keep a copy with said license. Saying the contrary is speak for their own interest. Tm (talk) 17:51, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tm redistribute means:
reuploading my pictures with another account, crediting me as author, and distributing them under CC BY-SA license again
Comment No, it is not. And continue to try to change the license and you will be reported for vandalism. One thing is ignorance, another is stubbornness, when you have several people explaining the same thing. Tm (talk) 18:00, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Tm words are words, these are what we have signed :

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:Michael_Nicht. Reversion of CC licenses.

Tm (talk) 18:11, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Do not try to revoke a CC license, which you did here. Please remember that as soon as you upload a file at Wikimedia Commons, that it's not you who is distributing the file from here. The Wikimedia Foundation is the entity who is distribution all those files. You are not in a position to prohibit or prevent the Wikimedia Foundation from distribution files that have been released into a CC license. Jcb (talk) 18:38, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jcb can I see the script for this you claim.
I have signed a Creative Commons license that says that As a licensor, I may stop distributing under the CC license at any time, but anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms.
https://creativecommons.org/faq/#what-if-i-change-my-mind-about-using-a-cc-license
. You can reupload / redistribute…
Michael Nicht (talk) 18:59, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please see here. As you can see, there is no 'Michael Nicht' mentioned as owner or legal representative of Wikimedia.org. Jcb (talk) 19:10, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jcb What can I do if I offer my material under a Creative Commons license and I do not like the way someone uses it?
https://creativecommons.org/faq/#what-can-i-do-if-i-offer-my-material-under-a-creative-commons-license-and-i-do-not-like-the-way-someone-uses-it licensors may waive the attribution requirement, choosing not to be identified as the licensor, if they wish.
if the licensor does not like how the material has been modified or used, CC licenses require that the licensee remove the attribution information
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. So, because when someone clicks a photo that I have upload, shows Michael Nicht as lincesor
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Temple_of_Hephaestus,Theseion.jpg I want you to delete all the info about me.
I donate these copies to wiki
