Welcome!

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Hey bud. First off, you should definitely go into your preferences, if you haven't already, and enable quick delete under gadgets, which gives you a whole slew of useful options. Second, with an image like there, where there is pretty overwhelming reason to believe that it's a copyright violation, you can skip DR and instead click "Report copyright violation" under tools (after you enable quick delete), and nominate the image for speedy deletion. Cheers. GMGtalk 16:07, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- @GreenMeansGo: I was wondering if there was a Twinkle-like gadget. Thanks, that'll come in handy in future. Should I leave it at DR now it's there or speedy it too? Thanks, StraussInTheHouse (talk) 16:12, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- Umm.. I don't guess it matters terribly. A lot of uncontroversial deletions on Commons seem to be more of a "motion and second" affair often only between the nominator and the admin, rather than a detailed community discussion. But overall nominating as an obvious copyvio seems to usually be quicker. GMGtalk 16:15, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Hey fella
[edit]Just realized there's only really a few weeks left until you can go our for SO. Here's to hopefully seeing you around soon. GMGtalk 20:08, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi GreenMeansGo, sorry for the delay, I've been unable to access a working computer for quite a while! Definitely, I'm looking forward to it. StraussInTheHouse (talk) 13:06, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi. What's the problem? The file consists only of simple geometric shapes and text, like the {{PD-textlogo}} license... Danyele (talk) 18:15, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- It's a logo, it's best to get permission to avoid copyright claims. SITH (talk) 18:18, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- Danyele, the threshold for originally for the United Kingdom is exceptionally low. Yes, for a work in the United States, this would easily be PD-textlogo. For these types of files from the UK, it's best to upload them locally on Wikipedia and use
