Photo taken by Sergei Karpukhin, TASS (Сергей Карпухин, ТАСС), not a work from the Kremlin A1Cafel (talk) 10:59, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - this might come as a shock to you but every image posted by the kremlin, the rights are owned by its own Government imagebank called Ria Novosti aka SPUTNIK for whom Sergei works for so yes the Kremlin owns the rights and they can choose which image to release for free.. Sorry, but where were these rights mentioned? Also, this image was posted by TASS, not a RIA Novosti, this is a different organization. Nahabino (talk) 16:34, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sputnik owns the rights which as a russian you'd know is a Russian state-owned news agency..Sergei is a freelance photographer who works for both TASS and Ria, Sputnik is basically Russia's gettyimages but state owned, TASS is their version of AP (associated Press), you can work for both..only recently has the kremlin site started attributing photographers...  Comment The copyright term stated clearly that "the rules for using materials from this website do not apply to RIA Novosti photographs that MIA Russia Today is the copyright holder of, or to photographs the TASS News Agency is the copyright holder of, when such photographs are posted on the www.kremlin.ru website with an indication of the agency and author". RIA Novosti and TASS are independent news agencies. They can have their own copyright. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:43, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yes but in this case, Sputnik/Ria owns the right to the image via sputnik, which again is russian 'state-owned' as i linked above so yes in this instance they posted an image' attributing' a photographer but its their image which is on their sputnik server in original quality.. I have been following this for 12 years now, aware of Sergei who has provided a lot of Kremlin images via sputnik/rian, what that copyright is claiming is to 'attribute' the photographers if the image is from TASS.. there is no 'kremlin' only photographer like the POTUS has with Pete Souza, as is like theUKGov whose images though OGL can't be used unless their .gov.uk website specifically releases an image for use which is the case, like in this case of that event, more than 190 images were taken by different photographers but the Kremlin chose to release only 25.. now if this image was not available on sputnik then yes, i would vote for it to be deleted but since it is, its owned by the Kremlin Stemoc 05:58, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
